about me

I am Lion - Hear me ROAR :-)

I've had “How to Steal a Lion” on Authonomy since January 2010 and I never thought I would see the day it would make it all the way to the coveted Editor's Desk for a professional review. What was just a silly idea in my head at the Oktoberfest in Munich 2008 finally became a reality which many readers have enjoyed. I never would have done it without many of you folks here. I need to give a note of thanks to my supporters who helped promote Lion up the ranks these past few months: especially Lilian Kendrick, Antonia Marlowe, "Baby Star" Lauren, Michelle Basson, Katina Jones, Melanie Dent, Cara Gold, Peter Turner, Ian Smith and Jim Darcy.

Now it's time to put up a new story. Please let me know what you think. All feedback are welcome - both good and bad.

As for me: Originally from LA. An expat living in Munich for many years. I think reading should be fun and interesting.

How to Steal a Lion is now available on Amazon Kindle,
(US, UK, DE).

The Notorious Expat Wives

Kirk Haggerty

Faith, hope and love abide; but can love alone save the marriages of three desperate expat wives?

When sports teacher Pamela has to move to Germany because of her husband’s job she finds herself going crazy with loneliness.

Comfort is at hand when an accidental meeting with Jill, another expat, introduces her to a church women’s home group where she also meets Carla.

The three women grow closer as they realize that they share the same problems. The kids have integrated into the new lifestyle and culture; the husbands are constantly busy, leaving their wives alone and frustrated.

Independently, each finds solace on an internet chat site: "The Notorious Expat Wives", which encourages them to deal with their sexual frustrations through chat sessions with strangers. Eventually realizing the potential dangers of their online activities, they decide to seek their husbands' attention in more dramatic ways, but with disastrous consequences.

What do the royal bed of King Ludwig the Mad, a gargoyle at the Cologne Cathedral, and a pitch invasion at a football match have in common?

A domino effect of copy cat crimes begins and the police all over Germany now fear a different type of “Notorious Expat Wives”!

How to Steal a Lion

Kirk Haggerty

Cool assignment for a journalist: Steal a lion statue in the middle of the Oktoberfest for a million euros. Do you accept?

Daniel is a journalism student at the University in Munich and is desperate for work. Against his better judgment he accepts a job from a mysterious investor, Herr Wolff, to do a simple task to build trust. Afterwards, Herr Wolff asks him to undertake a sensational publicity stunt: steal the Dompteur lion from the top of its thirty seven metre tower during the Oktoberfest for a reward of one million euros.

For the next few days, Daniel and three friends prepare for the most unusual and difficult feat of their lives, and the most audacious the city has ever seen - snatch a one-ton, four-metre high mechanical beast and replace it with a rubber dummy. But why is Wolff willing to pay so much, and what happens if Daniel and his friends get caught?

For Daniel it’s not just the money that motivates him. It’s the opportunity to write the story of a lifetime regardless of the outcome.

A good college romp and caper story about friendship, teamwork and a second chance in life.

Hi Audrey, This is one of the christian writer's reviews. I'll try to comment what I've read in the past 3 chapters. Title and cover looks goos, but you should add something to the synopsys - more info about Caroline being new in this high school in Spokane in the 1970s, then something about her f... view book

Hi Caroline. Don't find too many people from L.A. here on this site. I'm also from L.A. originally, (now in Germany). You have an interesting acting background too - cool. Had to look at your book, since I've also wrote a chick-lit, (difficult for a man, by the way :-) I like the title and the b... view book

Hi Ruby, Finally got a chance to read some of your story. In chapter one I got confused about this sentence: "Oh go away Rache, I've had just enough for one night, and you've had way too much to drink Jack!" Is the main charachter speaking to Rache or to Jack??? The you go into five or six para... view book

I like the concept of a christian type of Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew book. That drew me in. The synopsis looks solid. I also like how chapter one opens up - Margartet observing the conflict between her dad and her brother over fottball in high school. The father being a former star and the son is still i... view book

The story reminds me a lot of the novel, "Under the Toscan Sun" where a divorcee moves to a semi-ruined villa in Italy and spends most the time rennovating it - in the meantime she re-discovers her life. You missed a quotation on the first page. It should be, "Your brother still doesn't have an in... view book
