about me

I've read such a great diversity of stories here, some funny, some a little sad, some deeply touching. There's so much talent, so much willingness to share, so much desire to let our thoughts and experiences add to the lives of all of us, all the while tickling our funny bone.

I'm honored and delighted to be part of all this.

To Catch a Speckled Trout

Barbara Jurgensen

When Kirsten meets cool, wealthy Travis she doesn't realize he's a swindler--while she overlooks Matt, a neat guy--till her life's in danger.

The speckled trout, the handsomest freshwater fish in North America, preys on other fish.

A perfect description of Travis.

A newcomer in Wauconda, Travis lives like a prince, drives a vintage Cadillac convertible, and treats Kirsten like the princess of a fairy tale kingdom.

Everything seems fine until, overhearing a conversation, she discovers he's a world-class swindler--and that her life's now in danger.

Meanwhile Matt, who lost his wife in a tragic accident five months ago, wants to start seeing Kirsten, though his brother insists it's way too soon. Matt's manly in a way Travis will never be. Why can't Kirsten see this?

Hoping to eliminate his competition by catching Travis in the act, Matt sets up an ingenious sting.

But Kirsten will have to risk everything to provide the information Matt needs.

Many neighbors are praying for Travis. Might he yet see himself as he really is?

A tale of redemption.

David, I'm glad you put this together for all of us to ponder. Meanwhile I feel my calling is to do what I can each day, with the Father, so that his kingdom will come. I'm putting your book on my watch list till I can get farther into it. All best wishes. Barbara view book

Shelby, This is coming along nicely. You really catch us up. I'm wondering if you might consider shortening the two opening paragraphs into one of 3 or 4 sentences, getting us right into the story. They seem wordy. From there on the tale takes off. I'm putting it on my shelf, proudly. Barbara ... view book

AG, I hope your book is finding a publisher--or that several publishers are fighting for the rights! Could I ask you to take a look at my revised short and long pitches to see if they say it better? Thanks so much. Barbara Jurgensen To Catch a Speckled Trout view book
