about me

I am a 30 year old writer and artist from Kentucky. I am currently lucky enough to stay home with my almost-two-year-old daughter, Kyra, during the day and work on whatever creative thing my brain throws at me at night. My first novel, The Fireman's Daughter, was published in 2008 as part of my winnings in a writing contest. I would love to hear from agents, publishers, or fellow writers. :) mandycrum@gmail.com

I appreciate any critiques and backs but my limited time on here keeps me from returning comments, so please don't be offended if I don't respond right away. Also, please do not ask me to back your book just because you backed mine. If you ask me to look at your book and I like it, I will either back it or keep it on my watch list. Thanks.

Ghosts Of The Imperial

Amanda Crum

What if a movie star as big as Rob Pattinson was haunted by a girl who was in love with him?

In Depression-era New York, 19 year-old Lucy Garside has more than most; her wealthy family remains mostly untouched by the Great Depression , and she is free to plan for her future....until she becomes deathly ill with pneumonia and nearly dies. Her best friend, Ben Delacorte, stays by her side the entire time, and when she finally beats the illness Lucy realizes he has feelings for her. On a lovely fall day, the two of them make a date to see a movie at the glorious Imperial Theater in the city, never knowing that Lucy's body is far from recovered; as the film plays on and Ben stands helplessly by, she dies.

When her spirit is returned to Earth, Lucy finds herself back at the Imperial, which becomes a refuge for her. Over the years, she watches many films alongside the living, who never notice her presence. One day, she sees a film starring a handsome young star named Archer Black. Feeling a strange, unnamed need to meet him, Lucy sets out to find him, only to discover that they are linked in a way that will change their worlds forever.

I never have a lot of time to spend on here, so I can't read as much as I want to, but I LOVE this pitch!!!!! I cannot wait to read this. The 20's are my favorite time period and the story sounds so unique and creepy. Love it!! view book

Didn't have time to read as much of this as I wanted but I really like what I've read so far. Very strong writing, and the story is well-woven. Would do very well in the thriller genre. view book
