about me

I live in Bolton in the northwest of England.

I'm a semi-retired University lecturer in physics (plus an interest in computing). So now I have some time to do some writing.

My main literary interest is science fiction, especially space opera, and the harder the better. This is of course reflected in my story, Stowaway to the Stars.

I'd love it if you are willing to back it, but even more, I hope you might like to read it even if you don't back it, which is why I've posted all of it. If you do read it all, please let me know.

favourite books

A long while ago I was highly impressed by Arthur C Clarke's Childhood's End.

The best modern story I've read is Singularity Sky by Charles Stross.

And I like pretty much all of Robert Heinlein's books.

Stowaway to the Stars

Graham Keeler

Karen accidentally stows away on Larry’s spaceship, only to find he is a fugitive who’s only chance is a near-suicidal invasion of planet Zilon.

Karen wants to avenge her sister’s death, but her mission leads to more than she bargained for. One simple case of mistaken identity, a reckless decision and suddenly Karen’s life is in turmoil. She finds that she has stowed away on Larry’s spaceship and her future is now irrevocably tied up with his.

And Larry’s future does not look great. He has stumbled on a covert operation by the Ziloni and they want him dead. On the run from the Galactic Union and pursued by the Ziloni, his only chance is a near-suicidal invasion to a military base on planet Zilon to find the evidence that will clear him.

Now Karen has no choice but to accompany Larry on a perilous mission that takes them on an action-packed journey across three planets.

Hi Sean I've just come across your story and I think it is a great idea. Obviously has links to Groundhog Day, but with plenty of different twists, and a very different plot. One comment I have for you, for what it's worth. I thought that in the first chapter in particular, when you need to draw... view book

Hi Phil This is a fascinating story, and very nicely written. I am very pleased to back it. I do have one comment. The early chapters seemed to switch backwards and forwards in time, which I found rather confusing. Assuming that you don't want to tell the story in a purely linear time line, it w... view book

Hi Leslie I've looked at 'Love has no Borders' now, and am glad to back it. I do have one comment. Why do you mix the tenses? I found it rather disconcerting to switch, seemingly at random, between past and present tense. I'd strongly recommend writing entirely in the past tense, which is much t... view book

Hi Cat I've had a chance to look at Twisted now. It is a great read and I've backed it. You asked for comments, though, and I have a couple. A minor one is that in a few places (not many) the dialogue seemed too frenetic and confused., or actually it may be the narrative mixed in with the dialog... view book

Hi Cat Thanks for your support, and for backing Stowaway to the Stars. I've added Twisted to my watchlist, to read as soon as I get a chance. Regards Graham view book
