about me

I’m a tutor and aspiring novelist from Sheffield, UK. I’m actively seeking representation for my contemporary psychological thriller, ‘Social Threatworking’.

My mum taught me to read before I even started school and I’ve adored books ever since! I love nothing better than escaping with a novel.

Equally, I have a passion for writing and my ultimate aim is to give others the same sense of satisfaction that I get out of a great read. Depending on my mood, I like a variety of genres, my absolute favourite being the thriller.

‘Social Threatworking’ is my first novel and I really hope people enjoy it. If, like me, you find plots involving a scary premise that could happen to any one of us exciting, I’d love to know what you think.

I’m open to any feedback and criticism – after all, it’s the readers who make a book a success and my goal is to be a published author. I’ll do the same for you in return; helping each other improve and progress means more wonderful reads and writing sessions for all of us!

Aside from reading and writing, I enjoy spending time with my long-term boyfriend, going to the cinema and travelling. I’m also a Francophile and have spent my life since the age of eleven learning French, including gaining a degree in the subject. I think one never truly stops learning a language. I find all things linguistic fascinating. Unsurprisingly, I love a good game of Scrabble, too!

I hope you enjoy my work. I’ll spend as much time on here as I can swapping reads and constructive criticism. Happy reading!

Social Threatworking

K. A. Morton

Karen resists the world of social networking. But when a murderer sets up a profile in her name her life depends on checking status updates.

Karen Mayfield can’t understand her family and friends’ obsession with social networking. That’s why, when she finally gets her own online profile, everyone is surprised. Except Karen didn’t set it up. Someone who knows her every move did. Now her life depends on checking status updates. Each threat forces her to confront a terrifying past. Already haunted by her parents’ murder in France thirteen years ago, she fears her online stalker might be her parents’ killer, back to finish the job. She must overcome her ultimate fear of returning to France in order to stay alive and protect her loved ones. She has already lost one family; she is not prepared to lose another. Even if that means facing a psychopath.

Steve, you have a promising story here. Reading the first chapter I did initially feel a little impatient to get right to the heart of the action, although it was clear you wanted to build up the scene and characters for us. I felt Danny’s back story was a bit much all at once – maybe you could fe... view book

Tony, I really like this idea. Although I'm not a big sci'fi fan, it's the thriller aspect that attracted me along with the intriguing premise. I'd definitely like to see how this develops. The only thing I'd point out it that I've heard publishers prefer the form 'the man said' rather than 'said... view book

I enjoyed reading your first three chapters! Your friendly, accessible tone makes it very easy to become involved and keep reading on. The humour is great, too - I liked the bit about conservatories! I definitely want to continue reading so hope to be back for more when I get time. Just a bit of... view book

I have so far read the prologue and first chapter, and they get off to a very promising start. The prologue was well written and pulled me in, but I did find the POV changes rather harsh - I think it would be more effective sticking with Cramer's POV for the prologue. The action was very good, tho... view book

I found myself enjoying this one! A really good idea and great writing. Characterisation is great as is dialogue. I liked the musical elements - they give a really unique feel to the story. Definitely one I'd like to keep reading! view book
