about me

Firstly, I am leaving Sheikh Rattle & Roll on here for now (in its tech-error format), but taking a break from active participation on Authonomy, as I prepare for the release of my book in print... I've tried to return all reads up until today, my official departure day. Thanks to everyone for the great feedback!!! Although not reflected on this site in the current uploaded state, it has helped my true manuscript no-end.

I am a mum, wife, writer, and yoga teacher (pretty much in that order!) and use my 7 years previous experience as a VIP flight attendant as inspiration for my chick-lit novels. I have my first novel, Sheikh Rattle and Roll, complete with the first half posted on Authonomy. So, if sassy women's fiction is your cup of tea, then, go on, treat yourself!
You can also read my monthly personal essay at www.billiebates.com on the Sweet Talkin' page. Irreverent, humorous stories for the ladies (mostly).
FYI: I am Aussie, but lived in the Middle East and then London before settling down in the USA.

Ever wondered about the class above first class? VIP air-hostess, Sienna, discovers the proverbial oasis in the desert is often an illusion. Inspired by real-life.

Sienna Harris is a small town girl with a penchant for Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. A fortuitous chain of events lands her a chance at her own champagne wishes and caviar dreams, flying on the private jet of a Saudi Arabian Prince.
With the glitz and glamour that accompany the job, the ridiculous earning potential, and a hot, flirty aircraft-captain, Sienna quickly embraces her new and exotic life. But an overly critical, looks obsessed chief-stewardess starts to wear Sienna down, and a love interest with a few too many secrets leaves her wondering what's real and what's not in this world of excess.
When Sienna witnesses a disturbing crime, she begins to realize that if something seems too good to be true, it usually is.
Sheikh Rattle & Roll is Inspired by real life and resonates with the sassy women’s fiction trend that hints at exposé.

Catchy opening line ;-) the bar scene was well written and painted a picture. The pace is fast moving and the dialogue is snappy. Very easy to read. Thanks for sharing! view book

This is has a strong message, touching anecdotes, and words of true wisdom. I cried in the first paragraph, as well as in the story of the robber and then your brother. This reads like Carolyn Myss or Louise Hay, but actually, with more compassion I would say. Beautiful. view book

You have such a beautiful and descriptive writing style. I particularly loved, "...fields of indecisive green, hills falling short of remarkable. The predictable midwest." I like Vivian and I'm curious to know her hesitation regarding baby bearing. :-) I will certainly be reading more. Thanks for ... view book
