about me

**** A belated thank you, thank you, to everyone who supported me and made the Ed's desk possible. Those who didn't back it, but who made good suggestions on how to improve my writing, I thank. :o) To the many annoymous backers, and to certain other great Authonomites who recommended Muckers to their friends, a special thanks to you.

To Mel Comley, Impeding Justice, who came to my aid when I was unable to log on whilst on holiday for over two weeks, I couldn't have done this without your help and constant encouragement. A triple thank you, thank you, thank you! You're a real dote! :o)

To those whom I owe return reads or promised backings, I will get to your books asap and I apologise for the long delay in getting back into Authonomy.

This manuscript is a work of fiction. Characters are the product of the author's imagination and no likeness is intended between these and any real persons, either living or dead. Although place names and The Troubles are/were real, incidents are used fictitiously.

Many thanks to Bradley Wind for Muckers' cover. He's a dote. :o)

MUCKERS

Cáit R. Coog

Character-driven tale of friendship between two young cousins in conflict-ridden Ireland, before and during the Troubles in the Sixties.

Seven-year-old Claddagh has secrets she can’t even share with her cousin and best friend, Megra. As she approaches her teenage years, Claddagh develops mistrust and love-hate feelings towards the opposite sex. Megra on the other hand is too fond of fellows (and sometimes girls), and when she spends time with them, Claddagh feels abandoned by her. Working at age fourteen, Claddagh dreams of a future less dim, and if the opportunity ever comes up, she'll take off to England.

A civil rights movement becomes active in Northern Ireland. Catholics take to the streets in peaceful demonstrations, demanding the same rights as Protestants, but Protestants fear the Pope will step in and rule all of Ireland. Petrol bombs fly.

The British Army is sent across the Irish Sea to help keep Catholics and Protestants apart. Claddagh falls in love with one of the young soldiers but must also keep this a secret – except from Megra.

A Highland Feast is a delightful read but unfortunately I can't back it as this computer won't let me. When I go home (grannynannying the grandbabbies right now at my daughter's) I'll try to back it from my own pc. Even though Muckers has already made the Ed's desk, I still appreciate any sugges... view book

Blessed are the Cheese Makers: So envious you get to feast on Hovis and Cathedral City Cheese! Been YEARS since I had the little brown loaf and only get the cheese when I visit England. This summer when we were there it was the first time my granddaughter tasted white cheddar. She’d only been us... view book

Wonder, Heart of Captivation: I don’t normally read fantasy/vampire, etc., but I can see how your target audience would really take to this. Even though, to me it seems a bit overwritten in places, you paint quite vivid scenes with your words and kept me interested through the first two chapter... view book
