about me

I am 27 years old. Some part of me has always wanted to write. I have been writing stories in notebooks since I was in sixth grade. Most of them were pretty terrible but over the years I have come up with some fun ideas.

My first book: Zombie Church(which I loaded up here) was found by an editor and is being published. The first chapter is available here but it can now be found on amazon and was published last year.

I recently finished book 2: The Watered Down Gospel which is now uploaded. I have also uploaded my third book Terminal Religion. Any thoughts or feedback are appreciated.

I am currently looking for a literary agent for my first fiction piece: Outland. It is set to be a trilogy (perhaps more) but I need someone who can get it into the hands of publishers.

Outland

Tyler Edwards

In a word ruled by control and dominated by uniformity one young man searches for his identity and becomes a hero for freedom.

After the Great Collapse the world is divided into five great cities. The area surrounding the cities is a barren wasteland filled with marauders, cannibals, wild beasts, and unspeakable dangers. To prevent another collapse the Patriarch, Dios's strict government leaders enforce harsh laws and suppress any expression of individuality in their city. Jett Lasting is an orphan who lives outside the class system set up by the Patriarch. Stealing in order to survive Jett comes to realize that this life created by the Patriarch may be safe, but it isn't much of a life. Trying to discover who he is and to find something worth living for, something to give meaning to his existence Jett stumbles into a rebellion and quickly becomes a champion in its ranks. When the woman he loves is taken by the Patriarch Jett undergoes a dangerous mission which results in his being banished to the Outland. Now he must survive a world he doesn't know, find new friends, and discover who betrayed him all while trying to get back into a city that has not been broken into in over a hundred years.

Terminal Religion

Tyler Edwards

People often look to religion as a means for accessing eternal life, only one problem: religion doesn't lead to life.

All throughout Jesus ministry He carried out the work of God. He loved people, helped people, and ministered to them. All throughout His ministry, the religious people stood in His way. Religion does not save you. It offers these ridiculous sets of rules and regulations that don’t change anything. God doesn’t love you more because you live a perfect life. Jesus never asks for our perfection, He simply asks that we come to Him. Throughout the Gospels we see that Jesus offers forgiveness to people without demanding they follow a routine. Jesus offers forgiveness to those who come to Him. Religion is when we try to make ourselves good enough. Christianity is simply trying to make ourselves like Jesus. You won’t be successful all the time and you don’t have to be. That is the point of grace. Religion is our attempt to make ourselves good enough in the eyes of God. I cannot give us life because religion doesn't lead to life. Religion is not Jesus. Sometimes it talks about Jesus, acts like Jesus, and even sounds like Jesus but it isn't. Religion is man's attempt to cut Jesus out of the equation of life.

The Watered Down Gospel

Tyler Edwards

In our efforts to make Jesus easier to accept sometimes we dilute the true mission He calls us to join.

People are like pendulums reacting against one extreme by swinging to another. As Christians we are not immune to such trends in our human nature. For generations the church was a hyper controlling, ultra conservative entity focused on modesty and propriety. Love was not a major theme merely the proverbial spoon full of sugar to help the rules and regulations go down. Out of fear of being associated with the angry gospel of the church that was love has been and is often viewed as a blissful emotion with flower blossoms, sun shine, and rainbows bursting forth from a Jesus who is more like great big Care Bear then an almighty God. True love doesn’t fit on a Valentine’s card. It is a strong and powerful force that breaks down barriers and transforms lives in a way that cannot be ignored. Love is not a happy song from a big purple dinosaur. It is a raw, dynamic force to be reckoned with. Love is like dynamite: it is powerful and if mishandled it can have destructive consequences.

Wow, sorry...I couldn't disagree with you more. Bashing on the sign of the cross? Bold. Of course why wouldn't a Christian living in the first century whose knowledge of Jesus is built around personal reading without any real qualification know more about what symbol should be used for Christianity ... view book

And yet Jesus has constant conflict with the religious people of His day. If you took the time to read even the first chapter before drawing your conclusion you would see that I separate religion that is Jesus centered and focused from 'abusive religion' which is the negative type I am encouraging p... view book

I like this, sort of a lord of the rings feel with a contemporary style and less detail (which is not a bad thing since Tolkien spends 100 pages on a meeting). You have a lot of material to work with especially to turn this into a trilogy. Just make sure the work you develop feels like a real worl... view book

Well I must say I like it. Great idea, a familiar concept with some unique twists and an exciting story overall. One possible thought, make it longer. As a novel at 70,000 this is on the very short end forcing the reader to connect much faster with the characters and story then they might be read... view book

An interesting buffet of creatures brought together in one great big fantasy blast. Mixing fantasy creatures and spiritual creatures is a bold move and a somewhat unique approach. I am not sure how marketable it is but it certainly captures one's attention. I like these sorts of stories especiall... view book
