about me

Welcome, and please take the time to leave a note introducing yourselves to let me know you were here.

"I want to thank each and every one of you for your support on This Bird Flew Away and Fly High, Fly Blind. I only have an hour or two a day to be here, and I try to read as much as I can, but have committed to the Honest Critters program which I think to be the best thing offered on this site. I am so very appreciative of your backings -- all of you -- and I am embarrassingly behind on my thank you notes, let alone reciprocal reads. I'm doing my best, but still several days behind. I give those who comment on my books first priority and then take the rest in chronological order. Please don't think I'm not appreciative. I am. So if I haven't got to you yet: THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU." -- Lynda

Live in Florida, U.S.A. and Alberta, Canada with my husband of many years, two mastiffs and one chihuahua.

I published three novels years ago (many, many years ago,) got caught up in life, raised two children plus several foster children, ran a business and a farm, worked in child protection for many years, and then one day found myself ready and able to write again. I'm currently on my third novel (yet untitled.) The first, This Bird Flew Away and the second, Fly High, Fly Blind are in various stages of completion (as they never do seem to be complete, do they?)

I've taught creative writing, run writing workshops and edit for writers through my website below. SO, if I seem somewhat picayune in pointing out possible improvements or perceived problems -- it's my nature and I can't help myself. And done with the best of motives.

This Bird Flew Away is scheduled for release on the Black Rose imprint, January 27, 2011. Thanks for your support. Look for it in January!

What is real love? The whole world wants to know. They should ask Bria Jean, because she has it all figured out. Opinionated, stubborn and full of woe, Bria would tell you real love is having one person you can always count on through thick and thin. For her, that’s Jack. And it doesn’t matter to her that she’s nine and he’s twenty-three -- not one bit.

When, at the age of twelve, Bria disappears, he and his Aunt Mary search for her, and when she surfaces, injured, abused and traumatized, Jack fights to become her guardian with no idea of the trials ahead of him. By then, Bria is thirteen going on thirty, full of her own ideas on how her life should run and with some very fixed notions about who is in charge.

This work was edited by New York Times bestselling author, Kathryn Lynn Davis, who writes, “This is a tender, wrenching, funny, brilliantly written novel about so many kinds of courage, so many layers of beauty and strength, and the bonds of family (however unique they may be) that help us survive even the worst life makes us suffer.”

Thank you Jerry, but this Black Rose is in the U.S. -- still hope to get some good support. Like all authors, much of the promotion will be on my shoulders, but this is true even if published by the biggest of publishing houses. Thanks again Lynda view book

Hi KZ -- I work as an editor and read as one, too. So here goes: I"m not concerned with punctuation or petty points of grammar, but the bigger picture. And yes, you need the loving touch of a good editor -- but who does not? Overall, you write exceptionally well, particularly for someone working in ... view book

Hi Nikki -- an enjoyable read -- fun. Needs the loving touch of an editor, and perhaps the cutting of one or two "likes" but overall, well done. You have a distinct voice, share adventures in which we can all relate. Is this your first book? I wonder, because autobiography is a common first choice. ... view book

Chapter four: Okay, now I'm lost, completely lost. How did we get from multi-millions in the Senator's office to this treatment center -- did it happen before or after? I am so stunned by this sudden transformation I can't comment on anything else, though my editors finger itch to get at a few sent... view book

Thoughts on Chapter 3: Getting better. It seems to me that much of the backstory from 2 could enter into the story more smoothly by having Connelly and Burnbaum talk about Jim, kind of a briefing before the meeting. Still, now we are moving forward and this is good. view book
