about me
I am a Pediatrician and I love my work!
As a side: I do not find offense to what many on this site consider "spam." The difficulty with getting the word out about your books is evident and your "spam" is a necessary evil I believe.
HOWEVER- I encourage you to keep a running record of your messages and do NOT send me more than ONE read request. In my eyes, this is when your requests BECOME 'spam." This is when I will most likely delete your message as soon as I see your name and never bother reading your book EVER.
I will NOT however be one of those persons whom finds it necessary to give you a one star rating and blast your offensive "spam" on some forum thread.
I find that the above petty sort of "spam" reaction comes from people that have more invested in this site than I do; and a few of them have come off as being highly egotistical. They suffer from viewing themselves and their skills in a false 'god-like' manner.
In fact, these individuals who find it so easy to sabotage a fellow struggling writer's work are probably the same individuals for whom there is no twinge to their conscious and do this everyday in order to push their own work forward on your ratings/Editor's desk chart.
I apologize if my words appear harsh. I do, however, read the books that you request me to read since this is my only reason for being on this web site. ( To read) Yet, when my message box is cluttered with twenty messages from the SAME person. My smile becomes and annoyed grimace.
If you have not received a "comment" from me or a place on my shelf, please do not assume that I have not read your message or your book. The most likely scenario is that I have read your book and did not feel qualified to comment.
If I enjoyed reading your book I gave it the appropriate [subjective] star rating. If I did not the same applies.
As far as a place on my book shelf? I am very particular in that regard and almost possessive of the books that are placed there. It is almost as if they are actual "hard copy" mine. In that respect, if I wouldn't buy it in the book store you most likely will not find it put on this shelf either. Please do not take offense. This is highly subjective, is it not?
Thank you for your polite consideration of this occurrence I am expressing concern about.
