about me

Creative writing (especially fantasy) has been my primary interest since I was about fifteen. I enjoy writing novels, short stories, and poetry (on occasion). I have revised my only novel (the first in a series) upwards of eight times, and now it is essentially completed. I greatly enjoy fantasy literature and am always looking for new, good, and inspiring fantasy.

The Awakening of Days

Dan Collins

In a world beset by raiders and rebellion, Delian embarks on a search for power and truth behind the mystery of the demon-god Mlojak.

In a world, plagued by political disorder and barbarian raids, Delian, having come of age, travels to Edimonell, the capital of Tyriath to seek his fortune. Returning to his wilderness home he finds his family massacred by raiders. Visions of a sister, presumed dead, leave Delian questioning truth and falsehood, right and wrong in a blurred reality.

The discovery of the Silbor, a power long believed lost, sends Delian and his friends, Eledrae and Heremor on separate quests to find the Silbor masters. In their absence, the dark cult of the demon-god Mlojak, subdues Edimonell through terror. Meanwhile, the search for the Silbor reveals forgotten myths and raises unanswerable questions.

What is the Silbor? Who were the Faerar? Could other worlds exist? And where do the magic mirrors lead? Who is Mlojak? In this new world of discovery nothing becomes impossible, legends come to life, and Edimonell becomes the center of the struggle between good and evil, where Mlojak implements his plan for the conquest of the world and the destruction of good. Can Delian, Eledrae, and Heremor return in time to save Edimonell and Tyriath?

I gave the first several chapters a read, and I found it enjoyable. You introduce the characters soon, so it is easy to start speculating about motives and murderers, like good mysteries should. Strong dialogue throughout, though not quite as strong in the first chapter. Good detective-type detai... view book
