Crossing the Line is a story of betrayal, deceit, and the consequences of infidelity.
Paul Wickes loses control of his car and strikes a man while driving along an East Tennessee road with his lover Lisa. He grabs his cell phone to call for help. When he realizes the man is dead, Paul suddenly comprehends the seriousness of the situation: If he calls the police, his wife will find out about his affair. In desperation, Paul covers up the accident and drives Lisa home, unwittingly leaving his cell phone at the scene.
Two men discover the body the next morning and call the police. When Paul cannot find his cell phone, he realizes his mistake and drives back to the scene only to find the area overflowing with cops. Recognizing that his relationship with Lisa has led only to a dead man and a dishonest marriage, he ends their affair.
The police find direct evidence linking Paul to the crime and he is arrested and arraigned. As his idyllic world falls apart, the police stumble upon Lisa’s mysterious past. An even broader conspiracy takes shape as the police follow Lisa’s trail from the tranquil hamlet of New Tazewell to the mountains of Gatlinburg, forcing Paul to reconsider everything he once believed to be true.
