about me

I graduated from university last year and I love running, writing and travelling. I have written a couple of books and I am looking to publish them at some point in the future. I'm mainly looking to improve my work :)

I would be really grateful for any feedback/comments/ratings, and I always reciprocate! I am happy to do book swaps/ review your work if you will look at mine. THANK YOU so much if you have backed/ are backing my work :)

"The Ski Season" is now complete and has been edited. I am also in the processing of redrafting "A Case of Drapetomania".

If you can only read one chapter, please make it either chapter 13 or 14 of the Ski Season.

I can be contacted at vcmorris@hotmail . co . uk

Getting Away With Murder

V Morris

Family always comes first...right? Not if deception, morality, murder, love or personal gain have anything to do with it.

The Ortega family is pretty crazy at the most normal of times, but when the eldest daughter Anna kills her ex husband and father of her eldest daughter, things start to get ever more twisted. The family live in a house where women rule and men just try and stay out of the drama.

The usual insanity evolves as a foreign exchange student comes to stay. Anna's sister's finance finds the body, her daughter sees it which confirms the victims identity, and her pregnant sister decides to give up her new baby for adoption in the midst of everything else.

The Ski Season

Victoria Morris

A woman is found unconscious on a black diamond ski trail, but the situation is more complex than it appears, as the truth quickly unravels.

Britten Hollow is one of the most popular resorts in New Hampshire, but beyond the drugs, sex, drinking and skiing, lies something more sinister. The Ski Season is mystery novel about the attack of an attractive young female ski instructor, but the situation is more complex than any of the characters initially realise. Many different people are drawn to the mountain at Britten Hollow, and for a diverse range of reasons. The group of young British adults bound by friendship, are held together by something more.

The suspects in the investigation are a woman scorned, an unstable drug addict, a victim of a racially motivated assault, a womaniser, an ice queen, and a man pushed to breaking point, but only a mysterious camouflaged object initially points to foul play. The aftermath of the attack has a surprising influence on all those involved; especially those implicated.

Bonds are formed, trust is shattered, carefully planned events play out, relationships unravel, and the truth is finally uncovered, but is justice really served? As the season comes to a close, only time will tell.

A case of Drapetomania

Victoria Morris

An incident with a lion leads a girl to run away, discovering different worlds before finally finding her way home again.

The term 'Drapetomania' was coined by a doctor in times of slavery, and it means the desire to run away. However, not everyone who is trapped is physically enslaved, and the things that tie us are not always easy to break. The novel spans different worlds with various landscapes, cultures, rituals and inhabitants. There are talking animals, witches, an almost-execution, a sacrifice, cloud watching, rivers of lemonade, a kayaking trip round the universe and a path of life...and a whole lot of dreams and running. A young girl with the desire to escape her life finally finds herself wanting to return home - however difficult that may be.

I was only going to read the first chapter...then only the next... and I got sucked into reading the whole thing, which I breezed through! I love the concept, and especially your use of French, including trying to tutor an American. I finally understood who Lucy is to Brad (Brad's email in chapter... view book

I'm now halfway through and your writing and story are still both going strong! There are so many suprises and constant changes which keep the reader guessing. A really great story that I can see being read by a lot of people when it gets published. I'm going to read the rest! view book

I'd never read a story with a 6-way love tangle before, so I was really interested to see how they would play out! All of your characters have distinct personalities, there is lots of action, the writing is strong and it is just a great and engaging read overall. The change in POV worked particuarly... view book

The reader instantly wonders what the doctor has injected the future main character, causing his skin condition. The cliff-hangers work really well, and children would love this story! Shadow jumping is the perfect pastime for someone who is allergic to sunlight, and the reader will feel pity for Ja... view book
