about me

A fledgling hobbyist writer.

Started by writing short-stories, mostly highly experimental (The 9 Stories of J. Herriman Jr.)

I am now working on something that requires the skills I learned writing that book.

--

I am still trying to learn the etiquette of Authonomy, so I do not mean to step on toes, and please tell me if I do. I will your book, if you will read mine, and I will comment as constructively as I can.

If I like it, and a lot of stuff goes into that, I will back it. I will at least place it on my watchlist, and I will comment. So please get in touch with me, and I will keep a list on my profile so I can keep track for myself.

Books I still have to look at:

Faust's Butterfly by William Holt
Match Day by Darren Floyd
thedarkside@edating by Derek Booth
Debutante by Phillip Ross
The Öbergemau Key by Jose Carlos Cavazos
Mariposa by Andrea Robbins
The Cup Snatchers by Gerry Mclellan
The Free by M.Gilliland
Another Day in Paradise by Mark Reece
LITTLE BASTARD by SIMON CORBIN
SPIN by Bob Steele
Heroes of Destiny Book I by Kevin Wong
Euphoria by Lorraine McLeod
Salt Angel by Amanda Leck
Artistic Licence by Frank McGrath

Now that's a lot of books -- and I've only been here a couple of days. But a promise is a promise, so I'll get cracking over the next few days. I can't wait to read your stuff!

favourite books

American Pastoral
Blood Meridian
Fahrenheit 451

(Though I myself cannot write virtuosically (yet) you can see I'm a sucker for any style that pushes the limits of language)

I liked the first two chapters that I read -- they are very bite sized! You're really need to go through the book and focus on pacing. Pacing is kind of a weird concept, but chapter one and chapter two are excellent examples of how the way the story is written affects the pacing. Dialogue increa... view book

This is a lot of fun. You could stand to go through and check your tense agreement (Even the first line alternates between 2 different tenses, which you'll want to fix) -- but the story that comes through is really interesting. This is one of those great stories where you know, it's clear this ha... view book

Engaging stuff, seriously fascinating. I think you could stand to frontload the plot more -- too much character development in the first couple chapters without a grounding in precisely where the story is headed. But good, solid -- just, as far as my taste runs, I would give it more story and less f... view book

This is so strange, but honestly these are my first two reactions: You're writing is clean, and not enough happens in the first chapter. Before you have the cryptic incredible find of this woman washing up on the beach, we need some characterization. We need the protagonist to have a history, a l... view book
