A brilliant teenager steals an advent calendar and becomes trapped in a world of doors.
November 30th. Will White, moody and thirteen, steals an advent calendar from an antique shop. When he opens the first door he realises the calendar is alive; by December 3rd he’s been pulled into Unknown, the world behind the doors.
Will is no hero; all he wants is to get back home. Helping him escape are Celeste, a sarcastic angel, Dylan, an unreliable satyr, and Marcus Dark, a Cyclops who may or may not be on his side. Not helping him is The Red Girl, the vicious nine-year old queen of the Siniks and control freak.
The story takes Will through deserts and forests full of knives, burning cities and waterfalls, as well as the bewildering ‘Onomatopoeia Glade’. Will’s enemies include flying mantids who want his head, underground scorpions and the Bore Birds, who lull him to sleep with their dull stories.
Meanwhile, Celeste and Marcus have their own agenda. Behind the 24th door, they believe they’ll find the Original, the god which created Unknown. Will doesn’t believe a word of it, but by the end of the novel he is beginning to question his faith…
