about me

Writer of Historical Fiction. My current novel "Transfer Day" is out for consideration and will hopefully be available in 2012. More news to come. Am currently working on an adventure tale set in 1890's Tibet during the Great Game and featuring two very determined and plucky French explorers and the famous British Explorer Sir Francis Younghusband. In this novel, expect the unexpected! Please visit my website for updates! www.sophieschiller.com

favourite books

I love Jeffrey Archer's "Paths of Glory", Tracy Chevalier's "Remarkable Creatures, Sandra Brown's "Rainwater" and am currently reading Carson Morton's "Stealing Mona Lisa" and "Sunflowers" by a brilliant new author named Sheramy Bundrick. My childhood favorite was the timeless classic "The Cay" by the legendary children's writer, Theodore Taylor.

Dear Missy, I think you have a brilliant writing career ahead of you if you keep reading books to help you improve your craft and practice sound writing techniques. The fish mimicking scene in the San Diego aquarium is phenomenal. Truly awesome. I gave you 5 stars for: concept, plot, setting, c... view book

Venkateraman, Interesting concept. Interesting story. Highly suspenseful and nice technological imagery. The name "Darryl Jamal Malcolm" is problematic if he is a white American. The name Jamal is used almost exclusively by the black community and would NEVER be used by a white family to name ... view book

Dear Kay Christina, "AnnaCara" is really a beautiful love story with good conflict and very nice characterization. However, up to the first 6 chapters we really don't know what AnnaCara's story goal is and how Lance affects it, or if a life with Lance becomes her new story goal. Obviously, after... view book

Dear Andrew, I read "The Poet" and was really impressed with your prose style. You write in gorgeous, metaphoric prose and your MS really conjures up a strong sense of time and place. Nice characterization. Nice, gentle story-telling I would like to offer some advice for Chapter 1. I recommend... view book
