Guardian of the Pegasus
HELP! My editor thinks the ending is currently more of a whimper than a bang. Please read Chapter 8 - constructive comments gratefully received!

The Rainbow Singer
This is here because the people who read it when it was written nearly 8 years ago still keep asking about it. It isn't finished, and I'd like to know whether it's worth finishing!

Guardian of the Pegasus

Rachel V

"To eat the flesh of the unicorn will bring a man to everlasting life."

The white horses of the sea took flesh and became the Meara. The secret of their island home must be kept at all costs
because their mares give birth to the unicorns. Cirrus, born to a unicorn, is the rarest of the rare. He is a Pegasus.

Gerad is already accustomed to danger. Becoming the Guardian of the Pegasus nearly cost him his life. Now, a unicorn of the Meara has been taken captive, and her Guardian Edith has returned to the island alone. If the man who holds the unicorn is not stopped, the kingdom of Britain will fall, and the island will lose its only ally. Gerad and Edith must reach Gifnes before the Black Baron kills her. They must convince King Eadward to join their quest.

But Gerad has an enemy, and he is with the king.

The Rainbow Singer

Rachel V

The year is 1290. What price a bastard child with rare talent?

Nowadays, we would call him a synaesthete.

Dominic de Brereton is The Rainbow Singer. He can play any instrument and sings like a lark. The heart of his talent is the link in his mind between the colours he sees, and the music he makes.

The problem is that such a talent is worth money, and a battle ensues. How can Dominic become the master of his own destiny, when the men around him will stop at nothing to control his life?

The last chapter of this reduced me to tears! The resolution that Jem and Seth find beyond their grief is moving and beautiful. What a dreadful thing the blizzard was, and what a harrowing time the whole community must have endured. You tell it with such dignity, respect and reality - a beautiful te... view book

Nanty, This is original and entertaining. The therapist is an excellent vehicle for the backstory, and Chrys is well depicted as a real problem for Ruby! I also like the suggestion that Ms Garrett has some idea that Ruby might be telling the truth, although that doesn't seem to develop in the las... view book

I really enjoyed this, Jenny, although I wonder whether you actually need the prologue. The business of Willow being predictable and unadventurous seems a bit contrived in that first chapter, and I think the pace picks up beautifully once you get past it. If you make a list of the things that you th... view book

Hi Rhonda, I've read all ten chapters, and enjoyed them. Plotwise, this moves well and holds the reader's attention. Setting and language are well handled. There's just enough Arabic to give it a real flavour, and make me appreciate that Angel is lost in it, but the translations are nicely done,... view book

Rebecca, This is well written and captivating. I noticed a couple of nitpicks in the first chapter, but nothing else. The madness of Ryan's mother is well done and you give the necessary detail for the Viking settlement through Ryan and Snorri without appearing to 'tell' us anything. I would happ... view book
