Update as of 03/08/2011:

Folks,
Honestly, I have no time to read my fellow mates' masterpieces. The norm thus far would have been to give an honest read and an honest commentary. However, that said, I realized I had been spending more time reading then writing and that altogether defeats the true interest of any writer. Forgetting Sally needs to be heard. For those who would like to take a peek at this script, you may get some idea looking through what's here but updates have been done which are not reflected here.

I hope Authonomy.com works in providing a better avenue for promising writers. I have a rough schedule fraught with time constraints involving my businesses and with the task of minding two precocious and lovely children.

If you need more information, visit my blog or email me at forgettingsally@gmail.com. I am looking for an agent.

I will check this account from time to time but it will not be everyday.

This is a true story. It is my story of life as a child and touches on a timeline when I was about 9 years old. I have changed a lot of names and certain events have also changed to protect some of my family members but most of the story is true. I am currently working on my second book which promises a lot more terror and what the wrong set of parents could do to a child’s development throughout life. I see my father and mother as Bonnie and Clyde, two people so in love and completely inseparable who have the wrong set of priorities when it comes to love for a female child.

When I finally realized the wrong doings of my parents, they had already taken years of my precious life to improve their financial standing in the public arena and had in the midst of that, sent me toppling down with lots of debts and lots of mayhem to deal with on the personal front. I hope no one goes through the years of abuse and torture I have had to endure.

This book also salutes the many Sallys who live among us who draw from their own inner strength, who function in society undeterred and untainted by their rocky and sometimes unrewarded life, to courageously rise above it all. In part, I was compelled to write this book because we are often profoundly involved in our own justification about what constitutes abuse that we inadvertently turn a blind eye to the many social injustices that exist against children like Sally, who are thought to grow up “normal”, but who silently suffer years of abuse undetected by the public eye.

The book is complete at about 85,000 words and I am looking for an agent/publisher. I can be reached at writingsbyrome@gmail.com

Forgetting Sally

Romilla K

Forgetting Sally is a true story of a young child lost in the maze of unworthy relationships, who survives despite tremendous odds in her way.

Penned from the perspectives of a nine year old girl from Singapore, Forgetting Sally is a true story of a child lost in the maze of unworthy relationships. Her parents have no time for her and are continuously abusing her in ways that are unspeakable but Sally sails onwards, drawing her support and inspiration from the many books she reads that tell her about life and living.

Sally finds that when the ropes of life become too rough for her to hold, she is forced to create and reinvent new avenues and roads in order to weave through the kind of normalcy her young mind seeks, crossing life’s murky waters ahead. Readers walk through each telling chapter that describes and tells the life of Sally as she explores love with her maternal grandparents, the terrifying troubles that spew with her maniacal father and the many other unfortunate and sad pieces of the puzzle that she still pieces with hope to eventually rise and shine above it all.

LOSING HAZEL: LYNN SCANLAN Lynn, Powerfully moving. A story that can be told, retold and spun many times, leaving one with a feeling of peaceful want. AFFINITIES: CHRIS HOLLIS Much tension reverberates through the chapter indeed!; there is a great emphasis on the pain that Andrew bears although sometimes I think it is too melodramatically described. Still the idea of conveying that pain and terror is obvious. Well written although I would sugge... view book
