about me

I am a retired ordained Congregational minister and public school English teacher. My wife too is a retired science teacher, and we live a short distance from the Saginaw Bay in Michigan USA. We own a two-week time-share (five star resort) on the big Island of Hawaii, where I do some of my writing when vacationing. The photograph is me vacationing on Kaua"i -- the fourth largest Hawaiian island.

I've been writing 4-6 hours daily for twelve years and have finished my twentieth book. Four are uploaded on this site.

All are available at Barnes & Noble.com - Nook and Amazon.com - Kindle. I'm on facebook and am looking for friends in the writing craft. Feel free in contacting me on Facebook or by my e-mail address listed below.

I write because l enjoy it and desire to share it with the world. I have been trying to write a book every year in what I consider the best part of my life.

I begin writing after two cups of coffee and before the sun lightens the sky.

My daughter, Laura Faith, is a "speed reader;" at seventeen, she read GONE WITH THE WIND in two-nights. She's also a "speed-typist" and a "whizz-girl" in everything -- so is her sister, Caralee Joye and her husband Mark who both work with horses in Disney World, and my two grandsons Sean and Clint who are great and my tremendous grand daughter Tenille and my wife, Charlene Joy, who has been very patient toward me during all my writing. I'm greatly indebted to all six..

ROCKS AND FIELDS

Lorne F. Thompson

This book concerns the knowledge of God for Christian growth.

This book involves the terrain of the knowledge of God (the Bible). In it we trek across its landscape striking rocks that gush with refreshing truth for our thirsty souls and locate fields with heavenly manna for nourishment.

It is a book to relax with for enhancement of spiritual life after a busy day in the workplace, or rushing all day here and there, or a hectic day in doing housework, or experiencing frustration in making house repairs. It is instructive and leads to encouragement.

So find a comfortable spot with your laptop and begin reading.

HOW TO LIVE NOW IN THIS PRESEN....

Lorne F Thompson

This book will appeal to all who desire a life Christ spoke of when he said, "Be of good cheer. I have overcome the world."

Cheer is a happy frame of mind. It's that mental serenity that no matter what I'll get through and come out the other end with a smile. It's like the peace a child enjoys when ill cuddled in the lap of a mother. It's comfort in the midst of discomfort. It's hope.

This is a book for all who desire that kind of life

The author can be contacted on Facebook or by e-mail lfred2@yahoo.com.

SHINING AFTER RAIN

Lorne F. Thompson

This is a story of a remarkable "miracle."

Do you hear it? Do you see it? Do you believe it?

One suddenly hears a noise, a rattling sound, and sees bones coming together, bone to bone, and tendons and flesh appearing on them and skin covering them and there is breathing -- bones scattered in death coming to life -- and a person living, emerging from death. A person living and walking.

Behold! What manner of person is this?

This is my true story of a dead man living.

"GOOD MORNING, MOTHER -- IT'....

Lorne F Thompson

I walked away from prison on an April morning. It was sunshine all the way home -- and too there was sunshine in my soul.

I paid my debt to society. "Two sentences to run consecutively," the judge pronounced. "Upon completing one you'll begin the other." Shackled with handcuffs, I was led away.

I mopped floors, clean toilets, scrubbed staircases and walls, sloshed through mud on the prison farm in springtime, sweated in the fields in summer, and froze in the winter cutting down woods on prison land -- all the while doing hard time.

Day in day out, month after month, year after year I trudged the same contour of existence.

Then the day finally arrived when the payment was fully paid.

"Thompson, front and center," shouted the cellblock guard, and the cell door opened. Moments later the state owned vehicle transported me to the bus depot -- and I was en route home.

It was such a beautiful sunshiny morning and in so many ways imaged my new beginning, and this is the narrative of that beginning "behind the story."

The remarkable truth in what follows is that there is hope for the fallen.
