about me

I'm a 20-yr-old college student that has always dreamed of being an author. I wrote my very first story when I was 6 years old. I take a special interest in what is called "Christian speculative fiction" (Christian Sci-fi/thriller/fantasy). The turning point that truly began my career as a writer was when I was thirteen--I looked at a shelf in the local library and told myself: "Someday I'll write a book that will be on that shelf." That dream is not yet fulfilled, but it is getting closer with one novel completed and another halfway done.

*I am now on Twitter and Facebook! If you friend me on Facebook, please send me a message telling me you are from Authonomy so I can put you in a special list! I'll be posting poetry and short stories from time to time on there, as much as I can get time to write.*

Other than writing, I play piano, flute, organ, piccolo, handbells, trombone, bassoon, and little bit of a few other things (If you couldn't tell, I'm a music student :-D). I also draw some, make jewelry and compose/arrange music.

The Pearl of Aireland is the novel on which I am currently working. It is a retelling of the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale with a few fundamental differences.

DarkStar is my first novel, and I first began it when I was 15, but after several restarts, major plot changes, and new characters, finally finished a complete draft at age 18. The version that is currently on this site is about half of the second draft. Because of the many time demands of school, I have decided to put off DarkStar and its coming sequels (and perhaps a prequel) until I am done with college and settled down when I have more time.

The Homeworld is a collection of several short stories I have written, plus a chapter each from two novels that are on my "to write" list. I will also probably be including some of my poetry in there too. This "book" is mainly for my short stories and odds and ends writing.

The Pearl of Aireland

Bek Mars

The fairy tale of Sleeping Beauty like you've never heard it before...

Daemond hates King Conan of Aireland. Why? Because he cursed Daemond for eternity. Being the less powerful magician of the two, Daemond aims his retaliation at Conan's greatest treasure: his daughter Meghan.

Conan knows his wards cannot protect Meghan from Daemond forever. He plans for her to marry Prince Edan of Belkland, a powerful young magician who protect her. But Meghan's safety depends upon her choosing their protection, and Conan worries that teenage rebellion may destroy her...

Aric, Prince of Carodor, hates Edan for several reasons. First, he stole Meghan, who would have been Aric's fiancé. Second, one of the avalanches Edan caused killed the love of Aric's life. The best way to get revenge? Persuade Meghan to fall in love with him instead.

Princess Meghan has lived her sixteen years in relative ease. She corresponds often with Prince Edan, her fiancé. But when she meets Prince Aric, she begins to question her father's rules. Is there really a terrible curse that hangs over her head? Or is that one of the tools her father uses to keep her reigned in?

The Homeworld and Various Shor....

Bek Mars

A collection of short stories and part of an idea for a novel.

The short stories are a motley collection composed of English assignments and writing contest submissions, and are here simply for critique and enjoyment. The Homeworld is a novel idea that was born during an assignment for English class. Set in the late 21st century, it is a futuristic story of Christians who, like the Pilgrims of so long ago, escaped to a new frontier to escape persecution and pursue religious freedom. However, instead of the New World, they travel to an entirely new world--Mars--where they attempt to colonize and tame the wilderness of the Red Planet.

DarkStar

Bek Mars

An interstellar assassin risks his reputation, freedom, and his very life to protect the woman he was supposed to kill.

Damone administrated DarkStar, a black ops organization specializing in assassination, for forty years, with only one failure: when his best assassin, Justyn Duggar, disappeared. When he learns of Justyn’s whereabouts seventeen years later, Damone knows that he must either get Justyn back under DarkStar’s control or eliminate him…

Justyn, having escaped DarkStar, enjoys his new-found freedom on the remote planet called Earth. Here he is a bodyguard to his former target, the princess of Tahok, though she doesn’t know that he exists. But when Damone suddenly shows up in Earth’s system, Justyn realizes that neither he nor the princess are safe anymore…

Kayala’s life was going perfectly, but everything changes when she is abducted, taken away from the only home she’s ever known, and told that all she’s ever been led to believe is a lie. As she adjusts to her new surroundings, she finds herself strangely attracted to her kidnapper, a mysterious man with a dark past. But how can she think of love when she knows what Fate holds for her as the crown princess of Tahok?

**7/14--Added chapters 7-10 and an index of characters, people, and places (chapter 11). Enjoy :-) **

Hey Lindsay! Read all 5 chapters of Gryphon Legend today...and enjoyed it very much...when are you posting more? Here are my thoughts: Plot--not enough on the site to really comment too much on this, but I like how you told part of Keshaar's story in the first chapter, but left the rest hanging ... view book

I've read all 14 chapters that you've posted, which is saying something because I usually don't get past chapter 3 on most other books on the site. I've also star rated you. :) That being said, I have a few thoughts on Driving Winds. Title--love it. Suggests the theme of the high seas. Long ... view book
