about me

26. Nerd. Rebel. Writer. Livin' life with epic style.

I started writing as a way to ease my boredom during night classes in graduate school, though it had always been a favorite hobby since I begged my parents to buy me a type writer when I was nine.

My goal is to publish my first novel "Return to Frog Hollow." I wanted to join the site in order to receive honest critque and feedback from fellow book enthusiast.

I have recently completed "Return to Frog Hollow" in hopes of representing the college age romance/science fiction group that has been left out of popluar literature lately. The book is complete at just over 97,000 words. I have posted the first 13 chapters here for read/review.

I am currently working on my second novel "Rainshine", a science fiction novel celebrating the small miracles in life.

Return to Frog Hollow

Savannah J. Blevins

Magic. Mystery. Mayhem. And love? Of all the things Emmie expected of her return home, falling in love with the enemy wasn't one of them.

Emmie Daniels had always been alone in the world, the forgotten child of a man who couldn't accept her out of the ordinary talents. After deciphering clues in a series of reoccurring dreams, Emmie finds herself tracking down the mother she never knew in search of answers. What she found was a family, and place where she finally belonged.

However, she soon realizes that her new life isn't without its own complications. Fiona, Emmie's mother, was recently murdered and now the news of her long lost daughter's return is spreading around town leaving Emmie the new number one target. As the mystery surrounding her mother's death grows more complicated, and the supernatural world around her extends far beyond what she ever imagined possible, Emmie's family fights to keep her safe.

Except the enemy isn't that easy to hate. In fact, Emmie sort of loves him. She fears she will be forced to choose between her own life and the life of her forbidden love.

I knew from just reading the pitch that this wasn't your everyday retell of Cinderella. Honestly, I like this version so much more. I think it more suited for adults :) I really enjoyed your writing style. It was lyrical, and smooth as if I was reading a well versed poem rather than a book. The emot... view book

So far I've read the first two chapters, and I wanted to get my thoughts down before I became too involved in the story :) Which I assure you is a really good thing. I liked chapter one because it really captures your attention. From a female perspective, I was definitely left wanting to know what h... view book

Even if the plot wouldn't have as amazing as it is, I probably would have still kept reading because the way you write is so lovely. It really draws you in, and suddenly I am feeling all the same things as your character. I was also happy to find that this book isn't going to be your typical romance... view book

The pitch worked as an excellent hook, at least for me, but that may be because I am fan of fantasy novels. I already like Alice though, because from the very beginning she is automatically relatable. Who wouldn't be grossed out by such a horrible job? Then to find out that she's had the mark for o... view book

If I was basing my opinion solely on the pitch I would have to say this wouldn't be something I would normally read because it seems like way too much drama for me lol However, you have an absolutely excellent way of downplaying the angst with humor. The first chapter is a perfect example of that. T... view book
