about me

1955 (Yorkshire, England) – I am born (Damn! Already been done). ‘Twas the best of times … (Oh well).

BIOGRAPHY

I was actually born to a family of newsagents. At 18 I did a Dick Whittington and went off to London, only to return to pretend to be Charlie and work in a chocolate factory.
When I was ten I was asked what I wanted to be. I said soldier, writer and Dad. I never thought of it for years – having too much fun, such as a time as lead guitarist in a local rock band – but I served nine years in the RAF, got married and had seven kids. I realized my words had been precognitive when, at age 27, I came down with M.E. – a condition I’ve suffered ever since.

FACTUAL

I turned my energies to writing and, seeing I’d left school at 15, educating myself. And I soon realized much of our knowledge is incomplete. The result was Patternology, or P-ology, a thought process I devised to work as a bedfellow to specialisation. Holistic, it seeks out patterns the specialist may have missed. The subject, covering most areas of thought, is not about truth, but ideas. You’ll find a quick analysis of all my ideas on my website, plus current affairs.

FICTION

Holism also guided my fiction with stories in most genres, including a new, multi-genre short-novel form - the Soap Saga. All my writing is in a minimalist, Flash format I call PopLit and I see it as a microcosm of the entire range of English literature and western thought. I even have an equation for my work: P-ology + Flash = PopLit NeoThink.
Over the years I’ve written some 30 short books - non-fiction and novels - plus 1,000s of shorter works. I see them being published initially in paperback every 2 months, and collected in hardback omnibuses of 4. I do everything back to front.

JOHNNY CAME TO TOWN

Anthony North

Who'd have thought when the Second Coming came it would be a writer of short stories with a twist.

Join Johnny Clarke as he battles the evil God Botherer's Society to save the world from domination. Ably assisted by his miraculous Muse, Peter, Johnny brings Good News in this satirical and lively thriller.
Johnny Came To Town is short, fast-paced and minimalist, one of 8 novels, over 400 short stories and 11 works of non-fiction, all written for the fast lifestyle of today and designed for screen adaptation. Check out my other offerings for more glimpses of my writing style and range of my non-fiction.

I, THINKER

Anthony North

Manic Blogger overturns everything you believe in. Prepare to have your preconceptions assaulted.

As an opinionated old blogger I have thoughts on most things, usually in an off-beat kind of way. This collection of blog posts covers many areas but are of one subject – Patternology; an attempt to place holism as a bedfellow to specialization. Each general subject takes one chapter and includes a variety of takes on the subject. I, Thinker is one volume of a trilogy of blog posts, the others being I, Poet and I, Storyteller. Chapter subjects are ...

1. Society
2. The Paranormal
3. Psychology
4. Atlantis & the Lost Civilisation
5. Philosophy
6. Environment
7. Politics
8. UFOs & Aliens
9. Criminology
10. The Universe

GIMME A TV SERIES

Anthony North

Warning: detectives, horrors and aliens abound in this book. You’ve been warned! My take on the TV thriller.

Ever thought: I can write a TV series? Here's a collection of collections of short stories inspired by a lifetime’s viewing and comprising season 1 of the adaptations I dream of. You will find various takes of mine on science fiction, the detective, horror and all genres betwixt. There is one collection per chapter.

1. Nova – Tough modern cop with hectic personal life.
2. Dig It – Archaeology has never been so mysterious.
3. Space Gang – Self explanatory. Thanks for the idea, Gene.
4. The Matilda Chronicles – Little old lady detective. Forgive me, Agatha.
5. Scarland – Waltons meet Apocalypse. Yikes!
6. Ruby Slane – If only Robin Hood had been sexy and modern.
7. Mr Anonymous – the name’s Brand, Tony Brand.
8. Newton 2 – A space age detective fighting smugglers and gods.
9. Fairview Tales – Cops ‘n’ Docs plus a vicar.
10. The Virtual Man – When virtual reality meets reality, watch out!
11. Marmaduke Grey – Mr Holmes was not alone in the late 19th century.
12. Shadow Games – Just reading this makes you a conspirator.
13. Ambrose – A Poefusion of horror to finish with. Nite, nite.
