about me

My real name is Judi Blaze
I am a former journalist, novelist, editor and l like to have fun. I live on an island where I'm surrounded by water, but can't swim in it (too poluted for me) I'm bummed about that.
My novels include; On Indian time (award winner), Riding on a Rainbow, Beach People, Orchid Island and Sunday at the Social Club. I also have a book of short stories, Go to the Water, a memoir and two nonfiction books in the works.
I write full time and do free lance jobs for money, as well as sell pesto at my farm stand. I grow lots of vegetables, travel and love my grandkids.

I also want everyone to know that I DON'T just give fluff when reading your books. What would be the point if everyone said how fantastic, or how marvelous everyone's books are? As an editor I wouldn't do it, and as a reader on various sites I wouldn't.

Sunday at the Social Club

Judi Blaze

Sunday at the Social Club is the story of life in a small fishing village in Mexico where relationships form and disaster looms.

What happens at the Social Club, stays at the Social Club. It's where tequila loosens tongues and stories of past lives conjure up feelings and bad memories. But Sunday night is story night at the bar and those who are a part of it know what to expect. It's only stories, right? Not always

Standing behind the bar of the club Augustine bought after moving to San Dias twenty years ago--the hot blooded Italian from New York jokes that he’s here as part of the witness protection program. Is he? Rumors in the village fly.

Between a German expatriate named Butler who closes one eye when he drinks too much tequila, Raphael who fishes to keep his family fed, and Socorro's ex-husband, Vicente, who waits for his chance to kidnap his wife and child,, taking them back to Guadalajara, there is never a dull moment in San Dias.
Socorro only wants Augustine to love her as much as she loves him, but Augustine is the town playboy and loves all the other women too. It takes a kidnapping to make Augustine realiize his true love for her.

The book is complete---chapters will be added as I rewrite each one.

Orchid Island

Judi Blaze

When Allison wins an ebay auction to spend two weeks on an island with an artist family, her shallow and materialist life is changed forever.

ORCHID ISLAND is tthe story of a 28-year old woman who seeks to escape the shallow and materialist world of her wealthy mother by winning an Ebay auction advertising “Two weeks on an island in Puget Sound with an artist family.” Allison Courtney Johnson can’t wait to explore her possibilities and start the novel she plans to write. Little does she know these two weeks will change her life forever, as she finds happiness and peace living on an island with artists, writers, free spirits and eccentrics.
Away from southern California and the country club lifestyle, Allison learns to appreciate the small things. Her journey is both humorous - as her Gemini side allows her to tap into her feral self- and touching as she absorbs the daily life of island people and a man named Boone.
After returning home, Allison realizes emptiness is creeping back into her life. She begins to resent the demands of her possessions and makes preparations for a different way of life. After selling the bookstore and condo – gifts from her family – fate drops the other shoe. Allison is pregnant with Boone’s child!

Hi Heather This is something I normally wouldn't read, but it is enthralling, especially coming from places I've never been, and doing things I've never done. I have a couple of small things, just remember, my opionion only. The lead was very slow. I had a hard time at first getting drawn in. I'm ... view book

I just read the first story and I thought it was funnier than hell. Poor guy. What a hoot. Your dialogue is good and you can really spin a good story. One thing I noticed is that you bounce between present tense and past tense a lot. A suggestion to take or leave; Maybe a little more character refer... view book

I have only read he first chapter but was pulled in by your writing and crisp characterization. Your dialogue is intriguing. There were just a couple of things I noted: you do a lot of showing instead of telling, of course what you tell is wonderful, but you might want to take a look at that. Also, ... view book

Wow! This is prettyy incredible. Right off the bat you get my attention. I don't usually read vampire books, but this just grabs you. Your writing is smooth and the dialogue is so realistic. A couple of the paragraphs are incredibly long, but maybe they were meant to be that way. Anyhow, this is a g... view book

This is quite the story. I am also working on a memoir and know how hard it is the reach deep into your soul and pull all that nastiness out. I love it. The writing is good and intense. My only suggestion would be to start the book where you start talking about your grandfather, then work some of ht... view book
