about me

I studied English Literature at the University of Leicester. I enjoy writing, plays, screenplays, novels, short stories, non-fiction, but am still waiting for that vital first thing to be accepted. I'm a massive fan of Tottenham Hotspur and sport in general, a keen watcher of TV, film and theatre, and someone who loves to travel and explore new places.

favourite books

Anything by Nick Hornby and Charles Dickens. David Nicholls One Day, Never Let Me Go, Brighton Rock, The Damned United. Mainly humourous tales and crime thrillers. Stieg Larsson's Millennium trilogy was brilliant.

How not to travel - A useless ....

Matthew Lane

A man without a plan's epic adventure around Europe, from the wilds of Finnish Lapland to fashionable Milan, and many places in between.

One Interrial Pass. A strong sense of adventure. A will to travel wherever. A plan to have no plan. The story of my 37 day trip around Europe, taking in sixteen countries, from the wilds of Finnish Lapland to fashionable Milan and romantic, sophisticated Paris via the small town charm of Zakopane, problems only arising when my plan to have no plan philosophy hit some serious snags. Highlights include watching football in Tallinn with a Tony Soprano lookalike, being saved from homelessness by Finland's third best wrestler, the wonder of Norway's stunning landscape, the surprises offered by Krakow and Bratislava, seeing a match at the San Siro, a perfect last night in Paris, and watching Tottenham play (and win) in a number of different pubs. Lowlights include an ill-advised night hike through the Norwegian mountains, luggage complications in Poland, stalker issues in Geneva, budget shattering prices in Scandinavia, a tourist crisis in Prague, police drama in Western Austria, and plenty of last minute dashes for trains and buses. All in all, one mighty rollercoaster ride of fun, loneliness, wonder, anxiety, adrenaline, panic and every other emotion under the sun.

Hi Nathan, Sorry it's taken me a while to comment. This is my kind of book. I love the dark humour and the witty, realistic dialogue. I could completely identify with the main character, Gary. I too can't really stand it when random strangers talk to me, but I don't think I'm quite as detached fr... view book

Beautifully written and very descriptive, really gripping the reader from the first line and not letting go. I felt like I was really there, that I was one of those running away from the erupting volcano. I'd be very interested to read on and see what happens. I'm not a huge fan of sci-fi in general... view book

Hi Warrick A really easy to read story, you write in a very pleasing, unpretentious style. Your idea of having a chicken as a character is inspired. The first chapter drew me in, and I'll be back to read the rest. I've rated you highly. view book

Fun, witty, easy to read, with excellent dialogue and an interesting concept. It made me want to keep reading. Backed and starred highly. Brilliant. view book

Very original and well-written. Your imagination is brilliantly warped. I'll put this on my bookshelf. view book
