about me

I’m that person you walk into in the bookshop. You know, the one blocking the aisle, obviously already on page 40 of the latest paperback.
Yep, that’s me. I love books. Can’t get enough of them. Hardest decision of my life was not whether I should leave my job and family in the UK to move to Australia but rather which 10 of my 700 books to take with me when I went. I dream about those decisions still.
I am more of a reader than a writer. If I choose to back a book, it is because I would seriously consider shelling out hard cash for it (obviously, it's fantastic that I get to read it for free here!). I individually comment on every book I back on Authonomy, even if it sometimes takes me a few days or more....
Being honest, Sci-Fi and Fantasy do not do it for me.

Hi Annabelle, You’ve got some interesting reviews below, parts of some I agree with and other parts I don’t. I didn’t read your pitches until after having read the chapters you have uploaded so far so I do not necessarily share the view that the OCD has to be overtly brought in earlier. As I did... view book

Hi Alison and Sean, I read through the four chapters you have uploaded without thinking of leaving and coming back for more later. This is writing which effortlessly grabs the reader and draws them in. At each introduction of a new character and a shift in time, I invariably thought to myself tha... view book

Hi Dani, Thanks for letting me know that you’ve updated this. Good work with the rewriting you’ve done since I last read it. You’ve gone a long way in removing those dense information dumps which were a little off-putting. The dialogue sections are definitely the parts I enjoy most – you really do... view book

Hi Stuart, I was very interested in reading this, given the subject. Unfortunately, I liked the idea of it more than I liked the actual chapters. There are a few niggles with typos but there were two major issues which prevented me from enjoying this as much as I had hoped. Firstly, I found that... view book

Hi Dani, I don’t like sci-fi or fantasy in general but have had a soft spot for Pratchett and Adams since I was youngster. I could see shades of both in your work and you’ve certainly got the knack of nailing a scene with an absurd character or two. I thought this started off well and there were... view book
