about me

Been in the background for what feels like forever - had to take some time out from my authonomy addiction, but back to have another go...

A little older, a little bolder, certainly no wiser; hope some of my old friends are here still and remember me.

My first (and so far only work) is below, got up into the top 40 or so many moons ago, but as horror / sci-fi / fantasy is never the most popular I'm just grateful for the reviews.

It's in 2 parts, the second of which is also here, but please don't back it - read if you like, but it's purely here for people to offer thoughts and opinions on.

I'm not big on the swapping reads thing - I like to pick my own books to muse over. But I will certainly reciprocate anyone who reads me (...eventually). Time is hard pressed, but I do my best - if I forget you, just let me know.

Freewill & Redemption is complete at 110K, but not quite all here.

The Tales of The Salesmans Vic....

Jason Edwards

The lives of the souls that are stolen by the Salesman in Freewill and Redemption,as he tries to buy his way out of his fate.

This is not a book in its own right, but here in case people want to see what happens to the other half of Freewill and the Salesman. There are three short stories here, and each has a supernatural or horror twist.

Freewill and Redemption

Jason Edwards

The lives of three separate people, told as short stories, are apparently unconnected; until they are linked by the evil of the anonymous salesman.

Cain Mitchell is in love with someone. He will do whatever he can to save them, but his obsession leaves him vulnerable, putting them both at risk. Karl Morgan wants to know the answer to everything, only to find that knowledge can be a curse. Marcus Knight is a poor comic, looking for his big break. But he soon realises that the centre of attention is an uncomfortable place to be.

And then there is the anonymous salesman that links them all. He can see the end; he knows when it is coming and he is afraid because he has seen what is waiting for him in the dark. He has no morals, and his self-preservation makes him a very dangerous man. But even he is working for someone.

Be careful what you wish for, because there is always a catch.

A dark and twisting tale that shifts the plot right until the end, when the final motivations of the principal characters are revealed, together with the consequences of their actions.

Complete at 110,000 words.

Crumbs Olga. I've read all 8 chapters tonight. Taken some time to do it, but I got to chpt 3 before I should start making some notes. Now THAT has to be the best critique I can give someone! The story feels much darker than I expected it to be - from your pitch I was looking for a "thriller"... view book

Jason. Finally got here. Very nice too - glad to get aroud to you. The atmosphere is the first thing that strikes me. It feels heavy and brooding somehow, with a sense of the ominous about it. The second thing that hit me was the ease in which I found myself slipping into the story. There ar... view book

Ok Crispy. Here we go... Long first chapter. But still gripping throughout. The opening is just brilliant - not just the fact that we now know the inevitable conclusion; the unavoidable FATE of mankind, but that we know the date. It starts a ticking in the mind like a countdown, that you then i... view book

Al, to come back with my thoughts having read your 5 chapters... There is a contrast in writing styles and indeed layouts through these chapters that I can see some have found not to their taste. Personally, I like the approach, and I think I get why you are trying to make it feel the way it is.... view book

Al - your writing skill is clear from what I have already read last night, and more again this lunchtime. Will finish off tonight and come back with full thoughts, but for now, this is on the shelf before my ranking slide means it counts for less... Jason view book
