about me

My dad once offered me $50 if I would write a story that contained neither swords nor dragons.

In my defense, I've never written anything about dragons.

I'm a Carolina girl recently transplanted to the Big Easy. I gravitate towards fantasy, Classics, history, and romance, but I'm discovering that my tastes aren't as precisely defined as they used to be.

Dear David, What a great atmosphere. I feel like it's a cross between The Dark is Rising and Harry Potter. I've read the first eleven chapters (I meant to stop after ten, but couldn't!) and hope to make time for the rest later. I hope you don't mind if I correct your Latin. "Shelter fro... view book

Raechel, You certainly do create a distinctive atmosphere. The cacti and the threat of heatstroke were so convincing that it was disorienting to emerge into the cold snap and rain we're having down here today. I'm perplexed by the warning at the beginning of the prologue. Is it there because... view book

Katherine, Wow. I can honestly say that I would never have thought up this premise, not in the millions of years it's going to take Karb to become one of the Precious. I love its originality, and I love the details you pause to inject, reminding us about the unique natures of each of the charac... view book

Dear Adam, Great entertainment. The style is clever and funny and makes great use of parentheses (which isn't something I ever imagined I'd have reason to say), and the story is engaging and grows over time in a way that seems both natural and easy to follow. My one suggestion would be closer... view book

What a fun read! The characters are all very colorfully drawn, and I love the use of Eskrima and parkour to lay out Tristan and his dad's background and lifestyle. The action sequences remind me more of movies I've seen than books I've read, but that may be a good thing. The cast of characters ... view book
