about me

I am a former professional ballerina who enjoys creating visual art, composing music, and powerlifting. I find the most pleasure, however, in writing. I think now, since I’ve written several unpublished pieces, is the perfect time to release my work to the public for others to like or dislike; either reaction is welcomed, for at least my work would be noticed. I hope this website helps me publish.

Writing is something I do when the words come to me, not something I force. And words come to me a lot.

I try to return feedback. If you feel it's been a while since I've gotten back to you, feel free to remind me.

The Mobius Flip

Cassandra Porter

Krissy Landry’s story is a complete circle beginning and ending at a bar with a hunter and a victim. Which one of these is Krissy?

Embracing anorexia as one step closer to perfection, a frail Krissy Landry wins a swim meet in the sixteen-year-old division. Shortly thereafter, she vomits and passes out. Krissy abandons competitive swimming.

At a jaw-dropping twenty-one, Krissy drinks alone at a bar and unexpectedly meets a successful businessman. Brandon Gunson is witty, confident, and handsome but also emotional and heart-broken, the perfect temptation for a lonely psychology student like Krissy. During their relationship, he shows hints of selfishness and violence, but she, with her low self-esteem, stays with him. After an apartment flood and the breakup of her friendship with Andie, Krissy can't cope with losing Brandon. When she seems to have no confidence left, Krissy’s mental strength peaks as she fights off Brandon’s sexual demands. He strikes back with the hurtful truth, revealing he is a womanizer.

Questioning why Brandon would use her, Krissy searches for Brandon's past, discovering it is connected to hers, specifically the swim competition. As the events are linked into a circle, Krissy gives it one twist, like a Mobius strip. Now, she is confident, but she is also a hunter of men.

Love, Death, or the Gift of Ha....

Cassandra Porter

Is the meaning of life to love? These poems and short stories examine the currents that propel life and drive some to choose death.

John Rivers, a character in the short story “The Predicament,” says he’s figured “that the point of life is to love others…that is unless we’re one of the lucky ones given the gift of happiness. Usually only dummies are born with it.”

In this collection of poems and short stories, John Rivers’ hypothesis about life is examined and demonstrated. In the short story “The Tire Man’s Children,” an auto repairman in a midlife crisis finally has the children he always wanted but in an unexpected way. A man born without emotion searches for it through his plot to murder in the narrative poem “His Brand.” A girl who reached out to a poor couple discovers she may have caused more harm than good in “The Couple’s Cigarettes.” And in “The Fire Truffle of Truth,” a grandfather gives his grandson a birthday gift that means more to the boy than anything else he’s ever received, a little chocolate truffle coated in a valuable lesson.

These stories cover many personal literary preferences. Pick one and give it a try!

Dear all who are about to read this book, I can't get the site to upload the newest version of my cover or the first chapter, so things don't match up with the new title at the moment. Please ignore the definitions at the beginning of chapter one and the old cover. I will change these as soon a... view book

I thoroughly enjoyed reading a couple chapters of Nicodemus Other. The childhood accounts had me laughing. The idea is powerful, even if much of the plot is occurring internally (but this is normal for a literary fiction piece.) I appreciate the philisophical implications and the strong use of metap... view book

Dear John, How does everyone know your first name? Anyway, "...Dogge exchanged his stained and baggy and sweaty sweatpants for stained and baggy sweatpants," had me giggling. And so did a lot of the rest of it. But, it's hard for me to follow, just as the theatre of the absurd is hard for me ... view book

I have read chapter 1 and 2 so far. The first chapter is exceptional. You flashed from a fantastic performance to a horrible murder without skipping a beat, as how it would happen in real life, and it shocked me into shudders. The little details, like the baby's shoe making its way into the ring ... view book

Dear Shaun, I really like the idea of this book. I think it is something that teenagers would appreciate, especially at an age when first kisses are like magic. This is written in a way that is young-adult-friendly. Rich with dialogue and emotion. I think there's some specific editing/rev... view book
