about me

I've been writing my entire life. There's nothing like picking up an old composition book and finding a book written by a 9-year-old, when that 9-year-old is you.

I love to critique and I love to be critiqued. Well, I love it as much as a writer can love it. I do draw the line somewhere.
[added 2/14/10]

Runeswept was my first book, and I've been at it for five years. It is the first of a series, of which four out of five are complete. If you can call them complete. They're like living, breathing, ever-changing entities. That's why I knew I needed someone else to read my work. Save me from myself!

I am a full-time student and authonomy has become a thing of my past. Runeswept was once number one on the weekly chart, but that was when I was able to be more active on authonomy. Runeswept

Courtney Lewallen

A mystical world is threatened by a bloodthirsty, usurping monarch, and the hope of the kingdom lies in an unwitting North Carolina teen.

Nick always thought his girlfriend was ridiculous for her love of fairy tales. But when she gives him an ancient family heirloom, he is thrust into a world cursed with perpetual darkness by the usurping, bloodthirsty Empress. The battles have ended ... but the war is still waging, people are suffering, and the Empress still reigns.

Faced with brutal trials, ruthless interrogations, idiotic cannibals, and psychological turmoil, Nick sets out with an unlikely company to deliver one final blow against evil.

This is Book One of the Runeswept series.

***Chapter 3 has a font shift. I apologize. It's an error that happened when I uploaded the book. I hope it doesn't stop you from enjoying it, just know that it wasn't intended. There's no reason for it. It isn't supposed to be there. Cheers!***

Love the beginning exchange between Rachael, George, and Toby. The scene flowed easily; your characters seemed so real, I could almost imagine you typing a transcript of an actual conversation between three young sex-driven people. The italicized part at the end was very intriguing, making for a gre... view book

You've masterfully woven a science-fiction masterpiece. This is very deep. The SF reading community will love it, with me among them. You say it's books 2 & 3 of a series - you should put that in the pitch so people know what they're in for. It's better to go ahead and say it rather than hear everyo... view book

What a terrific piece! With something as good as this, I have to get down to the nitty-gritty critiques. Just a couple that stood out: "who's mom..." should be "whose mom..." in chapter one. ctrl+F should make it easy to find. Also, the simple remark of "Weathers terrible" makes for realistic dialog... view book

This is very good! I could see myself curling up in bed with this book. I agree with the comparison to Shan, but it's much, much better, much more mature. Congrats and good luck! Courtney Runeswept view book

Chapter one was superb. Your scenes flowed so well into one another. The part with the medium was especially intriguing... and ominous, especially after reading the pitch. You have remarkable talent! It's so easy to support this book. Courtney view book
