But when he discovers an ancient alien spacecraft hidden beneath the Derbyshire dales and unleashes the power of the Elemental, he realises that his real problems have only just begun...

Local girl Helen comes to his defence when these new abilities get him into trouble with the school bully and they strike up a strong but turbulent friendship. Together with Pye (an abusive space-travelling adventurer trapped in a tiny glass bubble), and the Salymanders (a race of short hairy creatures living in a secret underground kingdom called Narrowdark), they must try to understand Jack’s power in time to stop a deadly evil that threatens not just them, but the entire planet.
