Although a memoir, this is a horror story, a true horror story. Writing it set me free. I hope that reading it sets others free.

When I was eight, my mom ran away with a man she'd met on vacation. We thought he was our knight in shining armor. It turned out he worked for the Dixie Mafia. For the next six years we traveled the East Coast as he killed and conned his way along. We were forced to participate in his con games and were trained young to be part of his schemes. By the time I was 10, I could steal and drive any car on the road. Such was our education, we were being groomed for higher things, or lower according to how you see it. That six years was a living hell and while it makes for exciting reading, it was a nightmare to us. We were tortured, abused and denied out formal education. In the end, the Mob that had doomed us to this existence had two men hiding in our house, they got the jump on us. At the ripe old age of 14 I watched as they put him on his knees and shot him in the head, effectively ending his reign of terror. To this day I wonder why they didn't kill us all.

Tennessee Tanner & the Cracker....

Kennesaw

Tennessee grew up in the shadow of the Mafia. As he moves into adulthood he struggles to change the destiny he has inherited.

After growing up as the son of a Mafia hit man, Tennessee watches when they kill his father exicution style at the age of 14. He endevors to change the future he seems destined to continue. As he struggles to become a better man than his father, he joins the Navy. Even as he signs up, he is acutely aware of how different he is. Once in bootcamp, he's recruited by a secret goverment agency that performs jobs that are too controversial even for the CIA. Aldo Morretti, an ex Mafia child, heads the agency and it's filled with other Mafia children who grew up simular to Tennessee. The entire group accepts who and what they are and end up doing exactly what they were running from when they joined the Navy in the first place. At least they do it for the right reasons and for the right causes. The book moves from Orlando, Chicago, San Diego and then moves to the Phillipines while Tennessee tries to take down a group of rebels intent on taking over the Phillipines, killing many Americans in the process. The killing of their leader, Banyo, will take all of Tennessee's unusual skills.

Charlotte, I love both of your mc's, this is written beautifully. It's a dreamy read, crap what kind of word is that for a man? I liked it very much and see that you will make progress here. I know how tough it is sometimes, but stick with it. This is worth the effort. Kennesaw view book

Mark, I don't think this will end up in the Hudson. I read a pretty good bit and can't say I found any problems. I found nothing that needs repairing. This is so tight, I really can't imagine you making the desk and not getting bought. Still they surprise me every month. I love the story and the pl... view book

Good God Merle, I love you and have no care what so ever what color you are. Thank you so much for writiing this and doing such a good job on it. Like my book you're not writing it to make people feel sorry for you. Our stories must be told so that things that we've lived through will be washed from... view book

Hi Duane, I love historical fiction and roman or greek stuff even more so. I personally love this although I've read enough greek stuff to boggle my mind since coming here. I personally have no issues with this but see a few things that might bother some readers. It's too detailed in some spots. Wh... view book

Well I see why you have the number you have. A story based on just being a redhead, man wish I'd thought of it. I love Betty and her very real fobias. That's probably spelled wrong, but oh well. I think your writing is just about flawless and this is ready for the desk, not many here are. All of us ... view book
