about me

Hi! I'm Sarah from Richmond, North Yorkshire. By day I'm a dentist (part time, to allow me to raise the littluns), but by night and sometimes early morning I'm writing my first novel. I'm finding it hard work, but I'm enjoying it immensely, and I would so love to write for a living. Well, you can dream...

favourite books

I absolutely adore good quality, funny chick lit, like Marian Keyes, Freya North, Sophie Kinsella etc. Chick lit only works for me if it is slightly tongue in cheek and makes me laugh. Aside from the fluffy stuff, I'm a big fan of Sarah Waters, especially Fingersmith. I also love Bret Easton Ellis, his unusual style in my favourites, The Rules of Attraction and American Psycho, really appeals to me. I looooove The Secret History by Donna Tartt. Another emerging favourite is Ian McEwan - I recently read The Cement Garden, and I thought it was amazing, if a little creepy.

Hi Katherine, Thank you for kindly backing and commenting on Lost and Found. I very much enjoyed the part of The Swan Bonnet that I read. Your writing style is very atmospheric, and fable-like, which suits the subject matter beautifully. Backed with pleasure! Sarah view book

Hi, Thank you for your kind comments/backing of Lost and Found! I found this a great read. Your attention to detail with describing the settings is meticulous without becomeing tedious (quite a skill!). The stage is being set nicely, with conflicts arising e.g. in Anne's marriage. There is a lot ... view book

Hi, I really enjoyed this. The narrator is very entertaining, which I think is very hard to pull off due to how negative they are. The humour and pathos are well balanced, especially when the mother's death is brought into the story in the second chapter. I thought that the conversational style w... view book

Hi, This is a really enthralling read, what an amazing life, definitely worthy of being in print. I thought the opening was terrific, I was immediately curious about the circumstances leading to that point. I also enjoyed the use of rhyming slang in the writing, it lends a real sense of the perso... view book
