A prehistoric fiction novel about power, discrimination, revenge and love in which the protagonist Arcan is forced into exile by his own tribespeople.
Set in the stone-age, the story centres around the protagonist Arcan. Born into a thriving tribe during an eclipse, he is viewed as a threat by the chieftain’s son, Aku, who uses violence to succeed his father as tribal leader and force Arcan into exile, separating him from Asha, the woman that he loves. This event is the catalyst for conflict between two species of human, one of which is all but wiped from the face of the planet.
After years of solitude, Arcan rescues a woman from captors. Through her, he learns of the oppression that Asha endures at the hands of her violent chieftain. This forces him to return to his homeland in an attempt to rescue Asha, but upon his return, Arcan risks encountering the savagery of hunters who are devoted to their tyrannical leader.
The story is aimed at a similar market to the works of Jean Auel, Conn Iggulden and Bernard Cornwell due to being set in the distant past whilst exploring the ways in which humans deal with extraordinarily difficult circumstances.
