about me

55yr old Geordie from South Shields.

Living with partner Joan and two cats. Grumpy and Mimi.
( it appears that summer is over. the bbq is packed away for the year again. Grumpy is safe for another few months!!)

Writing is a chore. Hard to start. Great once you get going.
My last serious attempt at writing was back in 1970 when I had to do a project on Lord Cardigan. Hmmmmmmm, yes well!!!!!! not much more to be said about that.

So over the years I've muddled along, as we all do. Working sleeping, drinking, making babies. THe usual.
Now they've all gone, I find i have something I never thought I'd have.........Time............been so busy over the years I forgot how to relax. Now I'm starting.

Writing,
Hates, descriptive passages. 4 pages on someone who stamps your passport then doesn't appear again in the book.
Blurb on back of book which mentions......beautiful sex godess, gorgeous heiress, macho he man.
Whats wrong with a crosseyed, vegetarian charity worker. She's going to get killed anyway.
Or hunky Troy, devilish blue eyes that make underwear travel southward. Whats wrong with Plod Phil, you cut his throat the blood still shoots a foot straight out of hhis body.
Really winds me up.

I don't care if the moon beams reflecting off the silent shimmering waves create an almost mystical feeling as Santorini slides the 12 inch Toledo blade into a love filled but treacherous heart.
I want to know, between which ribs and how did he get rid of the bloodstained knife before he went to pick his wife up from the store.

I love reading books with black, black humour. I try to do it myself. But stray into indulgence. So I need a slap sometimes. Other than that I will normally read anything.
Excepting the finacial pages of course. Come to think of it, I normally skip the health a beauty tips. I don't wear lip gloss.

So enough rambling.
If you read mine I'll read yours.
Fair?
Fair.

Last Man Standing

David Embleton

What happens if you catch the worst virus ever known?

Simple.......................You die!

What do you do if you're the last man standing?

You survive.........somehow.

A tourist freakily contracts an untreatable strain of the Avian Flu Virus.
He is the carrier.
Unknowingly he spreads the virus, hospitals are quarantined and beseiged by the panic stricken population.
Governments and health servces collapse they are unprepared and overwhelmed.
The infection spreads unchecked throughout the world.
Epidemic turns to Pandemic.........................there is no cure.

Isolated on a solid lump of granite off the Scottish coast. Lighthouse keeper
Steve Nolan is infected by crew members of his supply boat.

He survives. How he doesn't know. But he does.

So begins his search.
For survivors.
He survived so others must have...................................surely?
