about me

I am new to the writing profession having spent the majority of my adult life in manufacturing industry. As a teenager I loved writing, I spent hours in my spare time writing short stories, keeping a journal and other similar pursuits.
Unfortunately, I was a scientist and my studies took me in a different direction and gradually the writing became a tool for assignments and reports. Then came work, followed by marriage and then kids, none of which are conducive to free time.
Next thing I know over twenty years have passed and the novel I had always promised myself I was going to write still hasn’t magically appeared.
Through a stroke of bad luck a medical condition has now ensured that I have more spare time and although not the way I would have chosen I have finally picked up my quill.
First of all I entered a competition on www.Abook2read.com with ‘The Nosferatu Effect’ and found myself listed in the top ten. A rather welcome confidence booster which has really kick started my new hobby and with a lot of luck a potential career.
Since then I have written ‘Multiverse: The World of Magic’, a fantasy/horror book which is entered in the Terry Pratchett prize. I have entered the ‘A Tale of two halves’ a rather interesting competition in which I was expected to finish a half written novel by Gary Davies.
Currently I am working on ‘It’s Not Your World’ a science fiction novel which I hope to have finished the first draft of by the end of February ready for several long months of editing and rewriting.
I will be posting my work from time to time looking for honest and constructive feedback whilst taking the opportunity to read some of the new work out there.

Found the first two chapters to be very well written and the character development so far is excellent. Enjoy your flowing style of writing. Have put on my watch list for now, if a place opens up I will happily consider it for my shelf. view book

Found the excerpt to be very interesting and flowed smoothly. Characters were well defined early on although I suspect you do a lot more later in the book. Thoroughly enjoyed reading it. Have rated it accordingly. Well Done view book

Claire, A superb children's book and although a little young for my two children they both said that it was good and when all said and done they are the real experts. I do read a lot of books with the kids and I can honestly say this was well written and entertaining. Unfortunately I am not an ex... view book

Fantastic piece of horror, one of the best I have read for a long time. Superb story flow keeps you on your toes every step of the way. This is one I will be watching for in the book shops! view book
