A remarkable true story on the life of
DICK MAWSON

I consider the decades of the Sixties, Seventies and Eighties to be turbulent yet wonderful years like no other before or since. John Glenn orbited the earth in a space capsule, the US beat the Russians to put the first man on the moon, personal computers were a fantasy of the future and people were limited to talking on the phone only as far as a cord could reach. The Western world was “rocked” by Elvis Presley. Beatlemania followed. The uniform of the day from the teenager girls to grannies was the wonderful mini skirt, not forgetting hot pants!!, the contraception pill was born, bringing with it the hippie movement, free love and “flower power” with the slogan"make love, not war." I was a young man, discovering all the delights the world had to offer, living in a new and exciting country, standing shoulder to shoulder with my comrades in the Rhodesian bush war, thumbing our noses at the rest of the world. As I reflect on those years it is brought home to me how very fortunate I was to be a part of them. To live where I lived, to love the special people I loved and to discover at a young age, the path down which my dreams and destiny took me.

The Gods who fell from the Sky....

George Richard Mawson

AN ADVENTURE AND GRIPPING LOVE STORY ABOUT 3 SPECIAL WOMEN,AND THE MOUNTAINS I HAVE CLIMBED ACHIEVING THEIR VERY PINNACLE.

Richard Mawson, wife Penny and family return to England from South Africa in 2005 and purchase a pub in Henley upon Thames. Penny falls head first from a car seriously injuring herself
The story now backtracks to Gatwick airport, July 1946 where an Avro Anson is about to depart for Southern Africa,
The plane crash-lands in the Luangwa valley where the family are rescued with the help of local villagers who call the family 'Gods who fell from the Sky'.
Aged 11 Richard, eldest son, loses his right leg in a farming accident
With the right leg amputated and the left badly damaged his tenacity and will to win challenges his chances of crippling himself for life
The adventure begins and is still building as the final pages are reached
At the present time the adventure is ongoing and will more than likely on terminate on the Death of a remarkable man.
