about me

Finally rewriting The Witches of Syhe after having a previous version on here almost into the 100's.

As soon as I get 10,000 words uploaded here then I'll be back to reading and reviewing! Happy to swap reviews, but not backings.

My biggest aim here is to motivate myself to finish the book. I'm very bad at finishing things.

Hi Alastair, here returning a read! I've read the first chapter and I do think you have a cracking opening idea. Brian feels like a natural main character, and I like the idea of the dragon's tooth as a central part of the story. The build-up and the climax of Brian realising his whole village ha... view book

Hazel, I've been intending to read some of your book for a while now and I'm glad I have :) Firstly, your opening is a great hook. The line about death beginning before birth and then the subsequent uncluttered explanation is one of the best openers I've read here. I immediately felt compelled to... view book

I've read over your first chapter, but I did stop once I reached the end - high fantasy is actually not my cup of tea, despite writing at the other end of the fantasy spectrum :) it's not a reflection of your writing, it's just not my usual choice of material. I think you do have a very good voic... view book

Hi Audrey, I had a read of your first chapter here. My first thought is that I would agree with Rob - putting the first paragraph in italics would help separate it from the rest of the text. The exclamation point at the end of the first sentence feels too excitable to me. We don't have any rea... view book

Having read the prequel and being left wanting more, I've read this too :) Again, I like the style used, the chapters that are almost mini-stories themselves. Fred is definitely my favourite of these. I love the disparity between what he thinks and what he ends up saying! It's a nice touch. So... view book
