about me

40 years old. Just shy of six foot.
Trailing five vampire kids, all sucking the colour out my hair.
Married to helen, part of the fun police.
Calculates the risk of fire for a living.
Have you got a pot of paint within a half mile radius of a gas fire?
I've been writing around eleven years.
Before that, worked as an illustrator.

Excerpts from the Everyday Unk....

Shaun Othen

Can a one night stand change your life?
What if it changes your DNA?
Turns you into something that shouldn't exist.

Nat wants Vike.
Someone he shouldn't.
He thinks he'll fill the void.
Put meat on the empty routine.
Instead, he peels back the edge of the world.

What's there is a revelation.
Good or bad? That's a personal perspective.
Like finding a polaroid of God, Nat's world changes forever.

He's now a monster.
Not in a tabloid way.
We're talking razor teeth.
We're talking hands made of knives.

They say strength of character is defined by how you cope.
Nat struggles. Not just with his new appetite for death or his growing circle of horrific friends.
He can't work, can't risk killing the daytime public.
He endures endless afternoons of sterile TV, waiting for dark.
The hunger. The disruption of his body.
Then there are the others. Finding he's not the only thing crawling around out there.
Door men becoming Scorpions.
Boys into Spiders. The little girl with the violent shadow.
And then there's discovering exactly what he is.

Bob, Quality work. You have a real easy way of writing. Very visual. Good line in detail. I like the steady build of your characters. Dialogue fits. Great idea as well. Backed. Shaun Excerpts from the everyday unknown Excerpts from the everyday unknown view book

Lauretta, You've translated your imagnation well. Very vivid descriptions. Good turn of phrase. I would strip some of it down (this is just me) Particularly the beast attack in chapter one. Reduce the content, make it more punchy. Make the descriptions a bit dirtier. Claws and fangs twinkled - ... view book

Old bloke, Quality writing. I strive for descriptions off the norm. You've nailed so many. Format could do with a tweak. Splits up the flow. Shelved. Shaun Excerpts from the everyday unknown view book

Jared, I could not switch this off. Your style is a real hook. Very accomplished. Marcus is vividly realised. He's a breathing creation. I'm so impressed by this. Backed. Shaun Excerpts from the everyday unknown view book

Robert, Exceptional writing. Confident, well informed. I felt pursuaded by it. I'll be straight. It's not my genre but I appreciate what you've achieved here. Backed because it's technically perfect. Cheers Shaun Excerpts from the everyday unknown view book
