about me

First, I do return reads when requested. It may take a day or two to get to it as my time is rather limited during the week. I'll have more time on the weekends to devote to reading other people's works. I will back books that I find interesting. I will comment on books as my fancy strikes me. :)

I won't back books that have an overabundance of foul language in them, even if the premise and story are great. The language used may be "realistic", but it is not necessary for a book (or movie for that matter) to have that much foul language in it.

I was born and raised in a small Michigan town and I still live in the mid-Michigan area with my two cats Galahad and Mordred.

I graduated from the University of Michigan with B.S. degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science. This led me to work for a prominate insurance company in their Actuarial department. I have been there since 1990.

Some years ago, I began to write for the sheer joy of it. I wanted to see what I could do. The novel was mainstream sci-fi. I submitted it to a contest, where it failed miserably.

In 1997, I came to my senses and turned to the Lord for forgiveness. I realized that my novel was no longer going to work, so I shelved it. A few years ago, the bug to write bit again and I reworked the novel to contain many Christian elements. I also decided to turn the novel into a trilogy.

Eric's War is the first of that trilogy. I hope you will read it and let me know what you think. Please check out my site for blogs and other insights about me.

Eric's War

Kenneth Bliss

Eric must use his mental "Gifts" from God to defeat his nemesis, McAllistar, and rescue his fiancée. Will he lose his soul in the process?

By 2075, nations gathered their “gifted”, those with great mental powers called Psionics, to work for their governments. Some thrive on espionage, theft and murder, like the Australian Psionic Intelligence (API) led by General McAllistar. The US Army Psi-Ops defend against the API. They are led by: Eric D’Tra’val and his fiancée, Michelle Johnson.

Eric has it all: power, wealth and a beautiful fiancée. What he lacks is to fully understand the Lord. His “gifts” make him a target for many. All Eric wants to do is make the world a better place to live, but devils impede his desires.

The devils fear Michelle’s Christian influence and want Eric to serve them rather than God. They prod their ruthless agent, Doppelganger, into infiltrating an API cell, kidnap Michelle and take her back to the API stronghold and McAllistar. Although duped, McAllistar doesn’t fear Eric and uses Michelle as bait. When Eric rushes to rescue Michelle, he falls into McAllistar’s devious trap, leaving him nearly powerless.

Will he defeat McAllistar? Will he rescue Michelle? Will he lose his soul? Read and find out!

Excellent take on the wicked Stepmother/stepsister story. I truly hope this sees print some day. I would love to read the entire story. view book

Just reading the first chapter churned my stomach. Wow! I am not a fan of these type of books, but I must admit the characterization, visuals and carefully selected words just popped out to me. Backed. Ken B view book

Thank you for writing this book. It was very enjoyable and struck a few chords with me. Shelved with pleasure. I also do not have a writing degree. In fact, mine is in Math and Computer Science, a far cry from Creative Writing. Even so, He gave me an imagination to write Eric's War, much to t... view book

I ran into the same issue as Mr. Mitchell below. I reread the beginning again because I wasn't sure just who was who. Relying on the pitch to explain who your characters are may not be the best course of action. If/when you do get published, who's to say the pitch will remain as part of the book?... view book

Thanks for the comments and suggestions! The double "trap" is a good point. I'll get that fixed. Jacob's not in the pitch because the word allotment isn't sufficient to put everyone in. I needed to keep the major players for this first book of three and had to leave Jacob out. I'll take... view book
