about me

Edward's childhood was during the race to the moon, living so close to Cape Kennedy that the windows rattled upon lift-off of the Apollo spacecraft. He left home at age eighteen and joined the Navy where he traveled around the world for the next five years. He grew-up quickly. Upon honorable discharge from active duty, he pursued advanced study in Economics from Florida State University. He would later pursue and achieve, another degree in Computer Information Systems from the University of Tampa, just in time for Y2K.

He currently works in the IT field (but would much rather write stories for a living). He lives in Tampa, Florida, with his wife and their two children.

My Review/Backing policy: Primarily, I post my work in the hope of comments, advice and feedback, good or constructive, from avid and knowledgeable readers (not necessarily authors). I understand the other authors on Authonomy are busy with their various projects and writing; for that reason, I don’t solicit them to read and, or, back my work. I hope authors understand I am in the same position...I simply do not have the time to review their work and complete my own; further, I will not simply back a book I’ve not looked at.

ps: Edward was taken as an online name; he is using the name of a character from the cartoon "Nancy".

In a society where anything goes...no one is really free.

A man (Sal) who is a persecutor of threats to society has an epiphany event that now has him as one of the persecuted.

Still a work in progress...I'll add & revise as the story evolves. Unlike "The Prodigal Planet", I'm attempting to write this story from the first person perspective as I expect Sal (the main character) to be in every scene.

I hope you enjoy the story...
Edward

Part 1
Chapter 1 - Digital Breadcrumbs
Chapter 2 - Slumber
Chapter 3 - Party Like There's No Tomorrow
Chapter 4 - Seeking The Hidden Chalice
Chapter 5 - The Late Christians (in progress...)

The Prodigal Planet

Edward Maurer

How would you feel if you "discovered" Earth?

For over sixty years, Earth has been sending-out its radio and television signals into deep space as a by-product of modern life. These transmissions are now beginning to find a new audience…and that alien audience is shaken by them. Eof, scientist and lone discoverer of these signals, begins the task of deciphering the signals and struggles to understand the new reality they uncover, a reality that threatens the very fabric of life on his tranquil planet of Frater. In a tormenting effort to protect and hide this discovery of Earth from his colleagues, his wife, and all of Frater, Eof is challenged by the forces of evil that wish to expand Earth’s chaos on his home planet. Find-out how Eof’s discovery is chronicled in the lives of his acquaintances and its unexpected consequences for Frater…and Earth.

Dianna: Yes, that was the intent. I believe we do need to look at our ourselves and how we are treating one another. What would our "neighbors" think? God's peace... Edward view book

James...yes, this was a thought of mine for a long time. The Prodigal Planet is how I thought this might play-out. However, I couched it loosely on the gospel parable of The Prodigal Son. In my story, Earth is the "son" that goes-off and does it own thing. Frater (which means "brother" Lati... view book
