about me

I love writing for middle grade and young adult audiences, as that part of my life resonates so deeply for me and never fails to produce my most dramatic and vulnerable characters.

Besides writing, I enjoy making jewelry and helping my daughter practice softball or playing online games with my son.

I'm also interested in science & nature, especially sea life. I read a lot about autism and Asperger's. I am fascinated by the human mind and people's diagnoses. I love to travel and would like to see all the glorious places on Earth some day!

Enjoyed the first few chapters and hope to be back for more once I check some more books off my waiting list. You've made Jack a very likable boy and his quirky father is a nice balance to his more serious mum. Kids love pirate stories, especially the quest for treasure, and in this case you've ma... view book

Laura, I read the first few chapters and will be back for more when time permits. Just wanted to say that I like the characters and the glimpses from past to present. I think you have to be careful with overdoing description and perhaps work the dialogue so that it sounds more natural and not as m... view book

You've certainly captured the mind of a cat in your writing. I think kids who are animal lovers will get a kick out of this perspective. view book

Laila, I started and finished your book in one sitting, taking only a couple of small breaks. It is so courageous of you to open your life up in this way and I know it will move many people. Many parts of your book reminded me of my own upbringing, though yours was much more extreme. Several tim... view book

Karen, I've just finished reading Isabel and am so glad I had the opportunity to read it. Your writing is so beautiful and poetic. The phrasing is unique and inspiring. I absolutely loved chapter 9 - it is so tender and moving. I adore all the Christian symbolism and metaphor and love your tongu... view book
