***UPDATE#3***

favourite books

Life of PI. The Phillip Pullman series, anything by Cliver Barker (especially 'Weaveworld'), Hemingway, Orwell and Zola. But my favourite book, I'm afraid, is The Exorcist! Fantastic dialouge between the priest and the demon. Closely followed by Alexander McCleoud's extraordinary collection of short stories - 'Island'. Non-fiction; Anything by Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens and Carl Sagan.

My favourite piece of prose-literature is 'Under Milkwood'. An astonishing piece of work!!!

And I guess it's a terrible thing, but as a 'leaving' present to my local bar maid, I bastardised 'Under Milkwood' for her. Apparently she has it framed! Better than flowers I suppose!

My House on the Fjord

Martin Paul Horton

This is a novel about a young man who lives in a house by an enchanted fjord, populated by mysterious creatures and, initially, loving encounters.

My House on the Fjord is a novel set, initially, on a simple wooden house at the end of a jetty in the middle of a fjord. The story concerns a young man who suddenly finds himself on this fjord, populated by magical creatures. He has no idea how he got there and has little memory of his former life, but is enchanted by this incredible world that he finds himself in.

We follow him as he falls in love with Sarah, who, to begin with professes her love for him and which he returns with eager gusto. However his love for this woman soon turns sour, as well as the experiences offered by the fjord. Encouraged by these experiences he embarks on a journey to ‘find himself’ and banish his negative emotions, which, as it turns out, have an negative effect on the fjord and its offers of paradise.

This story is ultimately about redemption, and that people, forgotten or past, are alive as long as we remember them.

DEDICATED TO MY DEAR FRIEND, PAUL MATTHEWS, WHO WHILE I WAS WRITING THE BOOK, DIED FROM LEUKEMIA. HE LIVES ON IN THE NOVEL AS DO MY MEMORIES OF HIM.

The Art of Tragedy (RE-SUBMITT....

Martin Paul Horton

This novel is set in London, concerning the exploits of Missy – a transsexual prostitute, and her young apprentices – the twins Red and Blue.

This novel set in London, concerning the exploits of Missy – a transsexual prostitute, her young apprentices – the twins Red and Blue. The story follows them as they are drawn into a dark world of prostitution and drugs and the horrors that it demands, until Missy discovers a mysterious note by an unknown author who begs the reader to find him and save him from his impending suicide. This leads to a chase across London to find the author of the note, David, who as it becomes apparent has a notion of romantic tragedy following the loss of the great love of his life. Missy and the twins endeavour to find the author and along the way meet a variety of characters, unsavoury and less so, who either help or hinder them.

The novel concentrates on the horrors of prostitution and drugs, the aspects of tragedy, love, and the insanity that swirls around those who inhabit this world. The death of the author of the note, who they meet towards the end of the novel, is both semi-tragic and yet spurs Missy and the twins to revaluate their life and moral obligations.

Hey Anthony, I've read some more of your book, and I know I backed it in the past so it's pretty pointless to back it again, but I'm just commenting here to make sure that all my friends on the news read realise how utterly superb this book is. And it really, really is. Best, Martin. view book
