The Boy Who Talks To God

Unbridled

Whatever God told him to do, he did. Giving away his shoes, taking punches, befriending outcasts. Even turning his back on love...and on me.

God first spoke to Nate on his ninth birthday. He told him He'd come to give him the gift of eternal life. Nate received the gift with joy, and from that day on vowed to do whatever God told him to do, no matter what the cost.

I was the unfortunate object of his spiritual quest. Nate was determined to be my friend; and while at first all I could see was a boy with his nose stuck in the Bible, before long I found him to be the sweetest companion I'd ever known.

I thought we'd go on that way forever, me tagging along on his crazy adventures, him making me smile. But the day I realized I loved him was the day I knew we were doomed. Romantic love was the last thing on his mind. He was too busy organizing food drives and finding jobs for his homeless friends. There was only room in his heart for One - and who was I to compete with the Almighty of the Universe?

If Nate was destined to love God, then I was destined to pine for him forever.

This is wonderful! I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. Very well written, entertaining, commercial. Lively characters. I love Jane Austen and you have captured her style and spirit with this. The only thing that got me was the tense changes in the dream sequence - you switched a couple times. Present t... view book

You are a gifted writer who has put a lot of depth into your characters. I admit the first part of the prologue was a little slow - I'm not sure reminiscing about the past is an exciting way to start a book - but once I got to the January 1945 I was very intrigued. Great action scene which also tugg... view book

Intriguing story idea - I like the plot. The prologue was just creepy enough to make me keep reading. The first chapter was strong, but the five paragraphs of history right at the beginning drew me out of your narrative. The place where you start talking about the book was much more interesting. Nicely written, realistic. I thought the first paragraph (after the first line) could use a little work to make it more attention-grabbing, but after that you pulled me right along. I felt so bad for Joanna. The subject matter is difficult but I admire you for handing it so well. Backed. -Lizzie view book

I feel so sad for Lindy...you made me care about her in only a chapter and now she's gone. I loved your descriptions of the storm and Lindy's thought processes as she walked through it. I appreciated that at fifteen she was concerned about so many other things besides freezing to death (i.e. her jac... view book
