about me

Hi

Just a quick note first - I have decided to focus on PITCH. I will read and comment when requested, but only on the title and pitch; providing the person asking has had the courtesy to have a look at my book too.

I would of course love to read more but I hate only reading the beginning of books. I hope you don't mind. I do occasionally read more, but usually only if I have spotted a book I fancy whilst browsing.

A bit about me...

I am a 28 year old feather-head! I muddle through life, always losing track of where I am going, what I am doing, how I am feeling... I am only in control when I am in front of my laptop, happily tapping away, getting it all out onto the screen. Where would I be without my fingertips, eh?

I have currently just about finished studying BA Film and Media, at Birkbeck University, London. I am also the Editor and Creative Director of A-MUSE Magazine. You can find out more about my many writing and creative ventures on my website... http://zaramohammed.com

I joined Authonomy a few years ago, just for the fun of it, but now I am back to take it seriously because I have a series of Blog-to-book projects called THE DIARY GIRL that I want to get into shape for publication - and I need your help!

The Diary Girl is my hopeless protagonist (She is also me, but that's beside the point). She sets herself outlandish missions and uses Blogging to keep herself on-track, but life is not always that black and white and the story never seems to go in the direction she expects it to go.

Anyway, once the mission is complete or she has reached some sort of conclusion, or learnt some sort of lesson, she takes the Blog off-line to convert it into a coherent story ready for publication (And of course a lot of the story gets fictionalised! I like to call the work 'factual fiction' or 'fictionalised facts'...its just my way of doing things, everybody has their way.)

The Blog-spaces are then continued to be used as a space to interact with readers, get them involved, and obtain feedback, support, and excitement for the project - unfortunately my readers are silent participators, and I need some gobby additions... any takers? Visit the blogs and help create a stir about my project will ya?

So far there are three books being re-drafted and you can find out much more about each one on their respective Blogs...

Well folks, I hope that you enjoy my stories and find your way over to the Blogs at some point too, to help me generate a bit of activity - thanks for your support!

THE BREAK-UP PROJECT: Why all ....

Zara M.

"Your culture's not the problem, its evidently my lack of!" The journey of a lunatic in love, from the brink of a break-up.

"As I edge nearer to my destination I pass the window and the moonlight shines onto my body casting a shadow over him, and I realise that I have no clothes on! It wouldn’t do to get caught trying to steal his phone whilst completely butt naked. No time to get dressed now though, besides, I am here and there it is."

Based on a true story. Wickedly humorous, poignantly sad; inevitably hopeless?

Love is dangerous, if this is what love is. And absent parents have a lot to answer for!

Thanks so much for for your comments Wussyboy - very, very flattered - (6 stars - really??), and your advice is so useful - exactly what I'm looking for! I completely agree with you on all of your points, and I'm glad you have drawn attention to these things because they are exactly the areas I k... view book

Oh my goodness! I love it when a pitch surprises me, and yours certainly did. I spotted your book cover on someone else's wall and I liked the look of it, so I followed the link. I think your pitch is great - nice and concise - great concept. Good luck with it... :) Zara M. (The Breakup P... view book

Hi Violet, I love the fact that your pitch is so perfectly simple and to the point. The short sentences are very effective. My favourite line is "Will all be barked at to relinquish their truths". It made me laugh. And your book cover design is so vibrant and eye-catching, I really like it :... view book

Hi Lacy, I like that you start off your pitch by inviting the reader to "Imagine"; it is exactly what I find myself wanting to do, and because of this I am instantly drawn to put myself in the shoes of the "young girl". I don't know if this was your intention but its very nicely done. I also li... view book

Judging from your pitch this is definitely a book I think I would enjoy reading! You express the sense of mystery and I feel like I want to read and find out how the puzzle unfolds. I love stories with an element of fate or destiny in them, or that 'feeling' that coincidences aren't really coincid... view book
