about me

I am a freelance journalist and writer. I have had articles, poems and short stories published and two plays professionally performed.

My first novel, Black Damask, suddenly vanished from this site and I have decided not to re-upload as it achieved what it set out to do - received valuable, encouraging feedback.

Grateful thanks to everyone who read, supported and/or left generous and helpful comments.

A Man Asssured of Honour is my second novel - again a historical but very different from the first. It is complete but being edited, so only nine chapters are posted here.

Feedback is far more important to me than reaching the Editor's desk, so anyone with time or inclination to leave a comment, good or bad, will be much appreciated.

A huge thank you to Bradley Wind for the striking cover.

A Man Assured of Honour

Did Sir Walter Ralegh write the plays and sonnets attributed to Shakespeare? His wife tells us he did. Together with other enlightening things about him.

From their meeting at the Court of Queen Elizabeth to Sir Walter's fall at the hands of James the First, the Raleghs' love affair and marriage needs courage and deceit in order to survive. In her own words, Elizabeth Ralegh (nee Throckmorton) relives their struggles, triumphs and ultimate tragedy.

I love this. It is a brilliant idea beautifully put together. Your imagination soars, your writing flows with ease and your characters leap from the page. .Arthurian lore will ever fascinate, and mixing periods in this way gives it a new, novel twist that just has to be published. Belinda, you have inherited your mother's talent. I'm not going to patronise you by saying this is remarkable 'for your age', because it's a terrific achievement for a writer of ANY age. The characters draw the reader in immediately, the descriptions are great and the imaginative storyline compell... view book

I've read the first two chapters and will be back to read more when I have time. I love your sweeping style and your characters ring true and have a compelling quality that leaves the reader wanting to know more about them. Shelved and starred with pleasure. Wow! 'Bonpland's writing jumped off the page.' So does yours, Brad. You said this might not be my kind of thing but I found it fascinating, terrible, horrific, sad and, now and then, amusing. The twins, Ed and Francis, six foot six yet only seven years old. Allowed to live although conjoined beca... view book

A joy to read. Beautifully written, with strong, believable characters that leap from the page. The story is engrossing and compelling, the dialogue sings. Love it and will definitely buy it when it hits the bookshops, where it belongs. Lots and lots of luck with it and backed, of course. Anna ... view book
