about me

Grew up a "Gringo" during the Cold War years in South America, moved back to the USA to study (PhD, MBA...), transferred to Europe, ran all over the world looking for trouble (cut!), excitement (cut!!), er, to satisfy my deepest yearnings to understand history, arts, music, philosophy and such lamentably uncool things.

...Fluent in several languages, even managed to get out from behind the Iron Curtain where I was not supposed to be TWICE without a visa (Bulgaria and East Germany). Just ask, I'll tell you the stories... if you promise to never tell my boss or wifey.

...Trained in martial arts, love chess, you try to figure to me out!

The Inscrutable Plan

Royal Truman

From Cold War ideological battles in South American jungles through modern scientific controversies, the Mutant Twins discover recurring themes in the human drama...

The Soviets never forgave a defection. Dr. von Wilhelmina, the brilliant MIT scientist turned conductor knew that his life and that of the Russian Nadia depended on disappearing forever. They would begin a new life among the Cashibo indians and do everything possible to protect their little Mutants.

But the newly minted Oppenheimer family had forgotten about the ancient Enemy. Someone who would know where they were and the terrible danger they posed to his plans. El Chino, the Maoist leader and martial arts expert could never succeed in bending the fractious Marxist movements to his iron will as long as the foreign missionaries continued to weaken the fighting will of El Pueblo.

With demonic cunning and a deep knowledge of human psychology, the Chinese guerrilla leader knew how to terrify and inspire, mislead and motivate, as the circumstances demanded.

Ambition and betrayal, battles against the conscience, socio-economic injustices which could never be forgiven, deadly gullibility... the drama is played out over forty years across several continents and races. The recurring existential questions about the purpose of our lives are played out in the minds of simple peasants and brilliant scientists. With some surprising conclusions!

Ida, you have a very fluid writing style. What I mean is, one can imagine being in the situation and each sentence follows logically and naturally. As a writer I think you have potential. I'm really busy with my agent and haven't been able to devote much time to this site.. Best wishes, - Royal view book

I found the writing style witty, but the development of the plot "jerky". It was hard to envision what the scenes were like or what the people were feeling. So many modern novels rely on the shock effect of being vulgar, I would welcome a more cultivated style of literature, with deeper meaning ... view book

Hi Steve, You've come up with a superb plot. This reminded me at first of C.S. Lewis's "Screwtape" but you have really thrown your imagination into what the empire of the Enemy might be like. The Enemy plays a major part in my book also ;-( I'll back this and hope to see this in print someday! Yo... view book

Yasmin, I grew up as a child in South America (my folks were missionaries ;-) ) and became interested in languages. Later as I learned about artificial intelligence and other computer techniques I came into contact with Wycliff translators and others who have analyzed indigenous languages in depth.... view book

Hi Sammy, You have quite a writing style! The short sound bites keep the action going, maybe at times almost "jerky", though. I wonder if more details about what your protagonists are thinking and what they see around them might add more realism. Your 200 word summary included suspense and intri... view book
