about me

A. De La Paz grew up in Eagle Pass, Texas. She lives in a small town outside of Austin with her husband, two daughters, and her chihuahua. She teaches Spanish at a local high school and is currently working on the sequel to Deadly Halo.

If you are interested in contacting her outside of Authonomy - Kalieris.trilogy@gmail.com

IF YOU READ MY BOOK AND BACKED IT, THEN THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART!

SOMETIMES I BACK A BOOK AND DO NOT LEAVE A COMMENT. IF I BACKED YOUR BOOK, REST ASSURED, I ENJOYED IT!

If I backed your book and you want a critical review of it, just email the request. I will email you back my comments, observations, etc.

Disclaimer: if your book is science fiction, chicklit, romance, historical romance, fantasy, urban fantasy, paranormal fantasy, young adult, and horror - then it is right up my alley - feel free to ask for my help on anything from world-building to getting rid of exposition, and plot analysis, etc.

If your book falls into one of the other many genres then my expertise is limited to line edit reviews on grammar and syntax.

You see my bookshelf one day and the next - it now has a whole new crop of books - so what is up with that?

I read from my watchlist and back as I see fit. Which means that my shelf changes and when I do not have any new ones on there, I will place my favs back on there to show the world which I prefer. It doesn't matter how many times I place your book back on my shelf - the ranking it gets comes from the first time I backed it.

When I am not busy with teaching, grading or reading something new from my favorite authors, I peruse the books section of Authonomy, always trying to find the latest and greatest.

On the subject of how I choose which books I look at, add to my watchlist and then back if I like them:

1. The genre & title and cover

2. Then the short & long pitch - this is usually how I choose a book at a real bookstore and I feel it is important to have something catchy - if you have my attention by this point, your book is going on my watchlist for sure!

3. Depending on how much you have posted - I will read the first chapter and if it still has my interest then it ends up on my bookshelf (just like in real life, if after reading the first chapter of the book I still want to buy it then I do).

Exceptions:
If your book is not my genre of choice but you took the time to check my book out then I will gladly take a look at your book and return the read.

Authonomy has broaden my reading horizons and I no longer groan or moan at the prospect of checking out books that are not my typical choice.

Deadly Halo

Alberta De La Paz

Appearances are deceiving in this modern-day world. Wings do not mean you're an angel and fangs do not make you the villain.

Ylionux and Ethereals have been at war with each other for centuries and yet they have one thing in common. Both agree that human abominations cannot be allowed to exist.

Kali is the latest abomination to transform but unlike the others before her, she doesn’t fall asleep and her transformation awakens the other abominations.

Damian, an Ylionux (an alien life form which crashed on Earth 10,000 years ago), is only obeying orders when he falls in love with Kali, risking everything to protect her from those who want her destroyed.

Abomination or not, Gabriel, prince of the Ethereals (an angel-like superior life form which has always lived on Earth), sees something special in Kali and wants her for himself.

Now Kali is in danger of losing her life and her heart when her path crosses with Damian and Gabriel. She tries to hold on to her sanity as she realizes humans are not the only humanoid life form on Earth and that she isn’t completely human anymore.

Short pitch – I would change it. How can you make this stand out from all the rest of the books that promise the same thing – forgiveness, quest for love and second changes? You want this to be the best attention grabber. Perhaps something like – Journey into a society where if you look closely b... view book
