Within days of their encounter with a soul-stealing demon, Dan and Scott Morgan's world is turned upside down as they learn that they are not the only people who hunt demons for a living. The brothers are pulled into a world where demons are real and a select few are tasked with protecting humankind from their malevolent influence. As their unofficial mentor in this world, Gretchen Franklin tries to teach the boys all they will need to know to survive in a dark world that exists just under the surface of the mundane world most people take for granted. All of their lives are complicated by the first mission to colonize Mars.
