about me

I am a DJ living in Dublin, Ireland. I am not currently working at a full-time job and so have the luxury of writing all day if I like.

I am a speed reader often finishing up to 4 books a week and my greatest regret is not doing an English Literature degree but instead opting for something more "useful" when I went to college.

I started writing my first novel "More" in 2006 and am currently doing a huge rewrite of the book changing it from a first person narrative to a third person narrative. I have also had articles and reviews published in State magazine and Hot Press magazine in Ireland.

Alex Donald

In rock music, while the boys can have it all, the girls don’t have the same choices.

“More” is the biography of an unnamed female rock singer, told in a documentary style with multiple narrative points of view. As the book opens, the lead character arrives in New York in the late 80s, with her best friend and guitarist, Billy Mason, hoping to make their dreams of rock stardom come true. In New York they meet the remaining pieces of the puzzle, Ford and Myles, and together they become “Cherry”, one of America’s biggest bands. The punishing work schedule and relative immaturity of the band members mean that things start to spiral out of control almost immediately. The pressure, the drugs, and the rock and roll lifestyle threaten to tear the band apart and prove to have even worse consequences for the singer. She learns that, in rock music, while the boys can have it all, the girls don’t have the same choices.

Dialogue is great and overall it's really well written. Not sure if it's something I'd buy but I can appreciate it. view book

Great plot and really original story. My only crit. is that your dialogue sounds a little unnatural. Perhaps reading it aloud will tighten it up a bit and make it flow? view book

Would shelve this on the premise alone as I have long been fascinated by Robert Johnson and think this is a fabulous idea for a book. I think your pitch could be a lot more attention grabbing - at the moment it's a bit staid and not very exciting. Love your writing style though. Good luck with th... view book

Have only read the first couple of chapters, but am intrigued so far. Am sticking it on my watchlist and hopefully I'll have a chance to read more soon. I think it could be tightened up a bit, make the prose slightly more punchy but overall I like. view book

An entertaining read, although doesn't Lestat join a band in the Interview series? I know not exactly a boy band but similar nonetheless! view book
