The worst first: retired!
I love to write, and have a ten unwritten books planned out, so I start with two new ideas.
A love history, a liking for adventure stories and a wish to write something people will enjoy reading - the three main motives my work.

Most of the classics, with the exception of Dickens, after the first 100 pages.
I reread 'Dance to the Music of Time', 'The Riddle of the Sands', The Bridge of San Luis Rey', 'The Wind in the Willows', 'Rebus' novels and 'Wuthering Heights'...
Maps and atlases, history, telepohne directories: if it stays still and has the printed word on it, I'll read it.
